Second RCI points account

I need to get around trade back restriction. I'm not able to trade into Disney resorts since my RCI points account is affiliated with Orlando resort. I was told by RCI that any timeshare I buy in the future will be added to my existing points account. And my weeks account is of course attached to points account as well so I can't trade through weeks either!
Does anyone has any experience how to get around this? Can I open another RCI points account?

RCI won't let you have more than one account. But perhaps a significant other or family member(s) might want some of your timeshare(s) and their own account(s)...

Can someone please clarify RCI for us because I am probably confused or have outdated information.

When my husband began buying timeshares starting in the 1980s, most included a lifetime membership in RCI or II.

He must have been receiving 8 RCI Weeks catalogs per year. About five years ago his late wife requested the many accounts be consolidated. I asked them to discontinue sending catalogs & RCI Endless Vacation Magazines.

My best understanding is we have to continue several RCI week accounts BECAUSE they have dedicated departments to manage various contracts.

1) When I called RCI Weeks with the account number for most of the timeshares we suddenly had to be transferred to Mexico BECAUSE that account included Mayan. This also prevented us from discussing all of our questions on RCI Points because we had to speak with the RCI/Mayan rep in Mexico. Eventually I got a RCI Points supervisor to REMOVE Mayan from our account because I told her we will NEVER deposit our Fair or Register weeks because we have a "Senior Certificate" which requires we use it for no MF. And we don't bother with the additional weeks that require MF payments.

2) We have a separate account for RCI Weeks/El Cid contract. But we only use those points for cruises so it doesn't matter.

3) My husband upgraded Costa de Oro/RCI Weeks to RCI Points in 2007. Later I was told they REFUNDED all of our RCI Membership Fees creating a credit on RCI Points BECAUSE RCI Points Membership overrides RCI Weeks.

He didn't know that the 'refund' was based on what the timeshares paid RCI Weeks in the 1980s/1990s etc. Perhaps $200 for a 30 year membership. The net result is we have to pay a RCI Points membership after the first five years or it will cancel the RCI Points/Costa de Oro contract.

4) He purchased VacationInternale Points in 1988 and I bought VI in 2002. We now have merged contracts.

VI has a RCI Points program but it requires a separate RCI Points account AND a separate RCI Points membership fee. VI has a new program called Prestige. They quoted us about $3,000 to upgrade to those benefits but I declined. It is either that program or another that cost about $5,000 to allow us to have VI/RCI Points. But I can't see the benefits when it requires separate membership fees.

The above is based on my last conversations with RCI/VI/II about these issues. They seem to change the rules all the time.

I can click on VI in II to see possible trades but I cannot trade unless I join a NEW program with VI/II.

That's not true as I have 2 accounts that RCI refused to consolidate. I have a weeks and points in one account and another points account only. This means I am paying for 2 seperate memberships. There were reasons that it was set up this way and there are perks I get (that I wont divulge) so I'm keeping my mouth shut.

There are actually some groups of resorts that require separate points account. Obviously, VI is one of them. Orange Lake is another. Hopefully someone can add more.

Can you transfer points between your accounts? Is it free?

No I can't transfer between accounts, as I mentioned there were special reasons that I had to have 2 seperate accounts so they are totally independent of each other.

Are you sure of that? I've never tried it, but I thought if you were trading a non-Orlando week in your Weeks account there was no restriction.

I have had two accounts for several years. I do not transfer anything anything between the acounts.
