  • wyndham/fairfield resale points

Hey, I've got a few questions. Is Wyndham/Fairfield one in the same? Do Worldmark resorts fall under the same umbrella as well? Are all Wyndham/F airfield resale points the same' that is do they exchange equally at all of their resorts? Will I be able to use them to stay at all Wyndham or Fairfield hotels. When I buy resale what benefits will I not be eligible for other than VIP. I own Starwood but Wyndham has far more resorts and hotels to use internally. I hope someone can out there can confirm this for me.

    Thanks

    Yes

Yes and no, they are owned by the same group, but they are 2 separate groups.

Yes, with the exception of the Advanced reservations that you can only book at the resort you own at 13 months
Will I be able to use them to stay at all Wyndham or Fairfield hotels.
Nope, no hotels just the Timeshares
When I buy resale what benefits will I not be eligible for other than VIP.
I am not familiar with all the bells and whistles, VIP is the biggest one, then you an only trade weeks with RCI, not RCI points. etc

Yes, much larger easier to use, but it doesn't have any hotel use.

      Fairfield renamed to Wyndham.

But when you looking at resale, since the corp also including WorldMark, so if you search eBay title for Wyndham, you will find both. But the ad will usually stay very clearly about which one is which. Worldmark will have Worldmark there.

Fairfield hotel is owned by Marriot, not by Wyndham, that is part of the reason they wen through that rename. In short, you can not use your Wyndham point to stay in Fairfield hotel. There are some ways to allow you use the point to stay in hotels Wyndham owned. But they usually not as cost effective. You end up better use priceline, travelocity, hotels.com, orbitz, hotwire, Expedia, ... on-line search.

      VIP is the only program.

The plus partner which is like use your point for RCI point resort nightly stay, exchange to airline ticket, hotel, car rental is not there. But they are very very expensive. In most case, if you just pay cash, you end up saving like 40%. You can add those program with one time conversion fee $2,395 plus every year like $.07 per 1K point afjust based on the program cost.

Actually, there are now some Wyndham hotels that you can reserve with Wyndham points. However, the point cost for a day or week usually makes it a bad deal to use their points that way.

Some of the Wyndham hotels available for booking through Wyndham Vacation Resorts:

        Hotel Galvez
        Wyndham Miami Airport
        Wyndham Orange Co
        Wyndham Peachtree Atlanta
Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa
        Harrahs Las Vegas
Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa
        Royal Garden at Waikiki

Hey thanks. Couple more things. If all points are the same should I be looking for some obscure place with low mx fees rather than Orlando or Hawaii. Second, does it matter if I combine purshases at different resorts to get the point total I want at the lowest mx fees?

          Thanks...

Your strategy is one that many resale Wyndham owners utilize. Remember you still get the ARP (Advance Reservation Prioirty) at the respective home resorts you own. All of your purchases will be held in one membership account. Your total points will determine the FSP fees you pay at all resorts.

              Resale Points and VIP

I am currently a VIP owner becuase of Bonus points from my initial purchase. After we bought a low number of points (168,000 every other year) we decided that we would like more and did not want to pay the resort cost for more. We looked around and found 315,000 every year points resale and bought those. We are hearing that when the bonus points drop off that we will loose the VIP status and that we will end up paying for making reservations and housekeeping points. Exactly how accurate is this? How can they charge me to make a reservation with property that I own deed in and also pay monthly maintenance fees for? It seems to me that there could be a possible law suit on this?

It is actually. The VIP status should only count based on the point you purchased from developers or if you inherit from your relatives, their developer purchased point. So when your bonus point used, you will be drop out from VIP.

However, from I read your post, you will get total 389k points after the purchase.

And every 77k points will earn you 1 free transaction credit, so that is 5 free transactions. Even with VIP, you are paying the transaction fee for reservation, except that you may not realize since you got enough free transaction credit. Each free one allows you to make reservation in the same day for free, so you could make 3 reservation in the same call, and only use 1 transaction credit.

For house keeping, it is 1 free per 1k point. So you got about 389 free credit.

Each unit depends on the size will require different house keep credit. usually, if you travel 3 to 4 days or up and cover the weekend, you will most likely run out of points than the house keep credit.

You can look at the housekeep credit for each unit per visit and based on your travel patten to see if you actually need that. The VIP package you have, at this moment, do cover unlimited HK credit if you run out of it.
