    I think that's true with any of the developer-based mini-systems, be it DRI, Marriott, HGVC, Starwood, ... In all cases the developer essentially calls the shots and passes the bill to the owners.

    In those situations, you just accept that if you want the advantages of being part of the mini-system, part of the price you pay is being one of the developers thralls.

    But, hey, it could be worse, There's always Worstgate.

      Diamond needs to work on their customer service. My expiriences with that part of their business has been terrible. Upgrading resorts and not response to customer problems is not enough.
