  • RCI and Club Intrawest Points Question

Hello, NEWBIE here, at least to this site. My wife & I have been Club Intrawest members since 1998. Just attended a timeshare sales pitch with Sedona Pines timeshare out of Cottonwood, AZ. They were offering a new membership with 33,000 points (RCI) every other year (EOY) for $8900. They maintained most RCI exchanges for one week ran 6500 to 9000 points. They also said that since I would become an RCI member, I could take my 120 Club Intrawest points and "cash them in" (not sure if that's the right term) to RCI each year in January for 57,500 points. This would multiply the number of weeks I currently have available through Club Intrawest's Extraordinary Escapes by nearly 3 times. The additional 16,500 points I would obtain thru them would bring my yearly RCI points available to 74,000 or as much as 11 weeks depending on exchange points required per reservation.

I would have to continue to keep my Club Intrawest points and pay their rather high annual resort dues of $6.90 per resort point (2010) and rising (it seems significantly each year). I probably would be able to drop my Extraordinary Escapes annual membership and then pay only the RCI membership and fees associated with each exchange. Does any of this make sense to those of you in the know or has any one experienced a similar situation with multiple timeshare memberships...........just trying to figure out how to maximize what I currently own and contemplating buying new or resale to help accomplish that.
