I thought I had read somewhere that you had to use some of your points in order for them to carry over for another year without charge. Since the vacation I booked is outside of the window for expiration. Could I use points for a hotel this weekend and would that have them automatically extend?

I spoke to an RCI rep and the answer is apparently no. And it costs $99.00 to save those points for another year.. which is crazy because to use them for something other than a vacation is:
This many Points... ...gets this discount
12,500 $120
20,000 $180
25,000 $235
35,000 $340
45,000 $440
55,000 $540
70,000 $660
90,000 $870
115,000 $1,100
145,000 $1,350
170,000 $1,700
200,000 $2,000
I have 55,000 points to use in the next two weeks... and it will ONLY get me $540 discount on hotel rent a car or airfare????
