  • DRI trying to aquire Pacific Monarch Resorts

A few minutes ago I was on the DRI website and read an announcement that they made an offer to aquire Pacific Monarch Resorts.

I had heard rumors they were trying to expand CA options for their members. I wonder if this was what was on the table?

Probably a good guess. I would have thought that Raintree would have been higher in their sites, but maybe that's still too big a bite for them to pull off. Meanwhile, with Pacific Monarch careening toward bankruptcy, this is a chance for them to take advantage of a buyers market.

This has potential for us, as it adds resorts in locations we would like to visit and can get to relatively easily.

When we were at Po'ipu in August, they were also saying that they were very close to adding some properties in Wa'ikiki and Hilo. But then, those are the same people who four or five years told us that the Bluegreen and Raintree acquisitions had been completed.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

      “You shouldn't wear that body.”

If this deal goes through, one has to wonder if DRI will feel they have to many options in Vegas and/or Tahoe? In looking at the photo's, Monarch's owners might be in for MF increase shock. It depends on how old the photo's are but the bedding and older TV's will go pretty quickly. Some of the resorts look like the units will need some refurbishment to reach DRI standards, others look as if they're already there.

None of the resorts in this group really fit our needs with the exception of the one in southern UT. It would be nice to have the option of a DRI quality resort close to the national parks in UT.

Will the members at those resorts have any say in management? Do they have member-controlled HOA's? If not, WATCH OUT!!!!!!!

When ILX was being purchased I asked the same question about Sedona and the answer from the top was that you could not have too many in a popular locale.

            "might?"
