And how does one do this? I am getting calls to renew my RCI membership but thought maybe I should try someone else?

If it is RCI points the answer is no. You can take your week somewhere else, but your points are an RCI product and only RCI. Greg

If you don't renew your RCI points membership it will revert to a deeded week. You could then deposit it where ever it is accepted. If you ever decide you want to have it back as RCI points you would have to pay your resort another fee to do so. This fee is often in the $695-$2995 range.
If you want to trade your week with an independent exchange company like SFX or DAE or others you would need to reserve your week prior to 12 months in advance so it does not automatically go into your RCI points account as points. You would have to maintain a points account but then you could deposit it with an independent. If you have a fixed week it is easy to determine the 12 month prior period. If you have a float week you may need to call RCI to determine the date you need to reserve your deeded float week by to prevent it from being deposited as points.
