I guess the overall strategy would be to educate owners on their options for having an independent board believing that owners will favor independence over developer domination. Once that is achieved, owners can decide for themselves if they prefer owner controlled vs. developer controlled boards. If they were to achieve independence, it would be up to the new board to keep proving to owners that they are doing a better job for them than the resort developer.
The natural side effect of this owner communication would be lots of information about resales and the resale value of their ownerships. Once they learn that, it may become difficult for Trendwest to sell to current owners. If that happens, then the developer might stop adding new resorts to the club using the current developer sales model. This may be good. Maybe they will just do internet sales without a commissioned sales team and let Fairfield new owners pay for the new resorts at full price. LOL.
But, on the other hand, this could be bad for Trendwest. They might just pull out of WorldMark completely. Or, at least significantly reduce their efforts there.
