Cost to keep ownership in RCI points
I am looking at a resale that comes with an RCI Points membership or should I say it is enrolled in RCI points.

I plan on using the ownership most years.

I have a "free" corporate RCI points account with my Bluegreen ownership. On a recent BG/RCI points exchange, I got an RCI survey with my actual points account number on it 8-xxxxxxx so I imagine it is a real points account

Are there any fees involved in keeping an ownership enrolled in RCI points other then keeping an RCI Points account which I already have?

Is there a yearly fee? A deposit fee? I know you do not pay to combine points as you do with TPUs.

I am considering dropping the RCI Points but wonder what the advantage is of just 'letting it ride' and keeping it enrolled?

There are yearly membership fees and exchange fees. Go to rci.com and click on the Dislosure Guide link near the bottom of the page. The next page has a link to the RCI points Disclosure Guide. On P3 and P4 which are pages 6 and 7 of the PDF you can find the table of fees for both.

You can also click on Help near the top and enter 'fees' in the search window to get the same info. You do not have to login to get to either on of these places.

          Also just found this out

Your points can be used for several years - saved, current and borrowed.

RCI Points and Weeks have different inventory (I go looking for great exchanges in both systems).

RCI Points does SPLIT weeks (can do a 1 day stay, but many resorts do charge a housekeeping fee).

My RCI Points account is at a VRI aflilated resort. I mostly use the HOME RESORT $40 window to book some of my weeks.

ADDED FEE: Every 3 years, there is a $89 RCI Fee to keep you unit in RCI Points in addition to the RCI Points membership fee.

          Hope this helps.

If you already have an RCI points account, there isn't a lot of reasons to keep the one you are buying enrolled if you plan on mostly using the underlying week. There are only three real reasons for keeping it as a 2nd points account:

            1. You do a lot of PFDs to get additional RCI points and you need to get around the 4 deposit rule per resort
            2. You want to exchange into resorts with the 1 in 4 rule and need multiple accounts
            3. Your resort is part of a larger resort family and by having it in points, you get access to that home resort group prior to the general public for hard to get dates/resorts

Otherwise, I'd say the additional costs of keeping it enrolled outweigh the return.

Another reason to keep in points would be if you get points for significantly less than $.01 per point/mf. This would be especially true if the tpu/mf is not so great but the points ratio is much better. If this is the case, down the line it might be easier to sell if still in points. If the tpu/mf ratio is better than the rci point ratio then this would be no reason to keep it in points.

                No
                No
                No

I would only keep it enrolled if it could go into my current RCI Points account thru Bluegreen.
I just returned from a BG/Rci portal points exchange and the RCI survey had my points account number on it. 8-xxxxxx

So it seems it is an actual account.

These corporate portals that allow you to book in RCI points are not true RCI points accounts.
Do you see the exchanges in BG currency or RCI points currency?
If it's BG currency then I don't believe you can combine it with a regular RCI points ownership.
These developer accounts see both points and weeks inventory if you purchase retail or own HGVC.
With Wyndham you won't see the RCI points inventory with a resale purchase.
I have booked RCI points inventory with my HGVC account but cannot combine it with my personal RCI points account.

If you want cheaper access to RCI points inventory than you would get with using your BG points you may want to consider
taking on a triennial unit at Grandview or the Vacation Village resorts. Those work out to about a penny or point or even less if you pay a little for the better ownerships.
With that and your new CMV UDI you can do PFD and pay a $26 per deposit fee to convert it to PFD.
There is a fee to save your points if you don't use them and don't pay for an exchange every year.
I believe it's on a sliding scale depending on how many points you are saving.
I get around that by just doing an exchange so I'm not saving points.
Exchange fees are cheaper in points but some resorts now charge housekeeping fees.
You also have the RCI membership fee every year.

RCI points inventory varies a little from weeks inventory.
There are some resorts that seem to only deposit to RCI points like the HGVC's in NYC.
I've also noticed that many times the bigger units are available in points vs weeks.
With CMV you can do 4 PFD per year.

Thanks for all the info, but I really do not want RCI Points as I can access thru the Bluegreen Portal- just looking at all the options...and it seems I do not have one unless I open up an additional account.
                      Not interested.
