Wyndham VIP Platinum Maintenance Fees

What amount is assessed monthly on 1,000,000 Wyndham points as a VIP Platinum member?

A VIP platinum member could make the points go further but the MF's would be the same for the same 1,000,000 in their account. The actual MF would depend on where the points are deeded and/or how many are a part of club wyndham access.

For the sake of argument, say they are deeded at Smoky Mountains (one of the lower fee resorts). It would be about $435 per month for the maintenance fees. On the other hand, if it happened ed to be deeded to Cypress Palms it would be $525 per month, or heaven forbid at Tamarack in the Dells it would be $637.50 per month.

Would where the contract is written determine the maint fee base? How is the rate at Wyndham Kingsgate, Williamsburg, VA?

CWA would be $450 per month for 2015. The fees are determined by the home resort(s) owned. CWA is simply a pool of various resorts, so it's fees are an average of the total underlying ownerships.

Kingsgate is a little funky, since there are both UDI and converted fixed weeks. The rate would vary depending upon the unit size and season of the converted weeks, since they all pay the same fee but get different amounts of points.

Still wonder what Wyndham would use, if all our fixed weeks were traded in to be rid of their maint. fees, assessments and taxes. Are you saying $450 for 2015, having CWA only? If so it would seem that the amount would rise or fall with the overall expenses.
$450 is less than we pay now for 2 fixed weeks + CWA of 400k.

That $450 is per month in 2015 for 1,000,000 CWA points.

Wyndham would probably take your fixed weeks and credit them towards a CWA purchase, but you'd likely have to spend more in new money than you would save in fees over a few years. Perhaps give away/sell your unwanted fixed weeks and replace them with resale CWA or other low fee UDI weeks?

Are there programs where Wyndham will "buy back" fixed week resorts? The two we own amount to 294k points with $227 monthly maint fee.

Do resale CWA points hold the same benefits?

Resale CWA would hold the same benefits as resale anything else Wyndham. If you are looking to become platinum VIP or stay anything VIP you can't do it with resale points.

We already have VIP gold. If we purchase enough resale to give us over a million points, you are saying we would still only have gold, but not VIP Platinum. The extra resale points would never get VIP benefits? I suppose that would still be good if they were obtained cheaply enough.

Resale CWA would hold the same benefits as resale anything else Wyndham. If you are looking to become platinum VIP or stay anything VIP you can't do it with resale points.

You won't up your status by buying resale whether it be CWA or at a specific resort. If you keep what you have and add resale points you will remain at your current status (gold). If you sell/or give away what you currently have in order to lower your MF per 1000 points, you will lose your status unless you immediately buy enough points to keep your status from Wyndham. You can do an equity trade in with Wyndham but I would think you would be looking at paying an extra $20,000-$40,000 to Wyndham on top of the additional MF's from the extra points.

Right now the extra points would still get the benefits from your gold account. They just wouldn't give you platinum benefits. Wyndham has been threatening for years to start distinguishing between VIP eligible points and non VIP eligible points but it hasn't happened yet. If they do this then you would only be able to get the perks associated with the VIP for the reservations actually booked with VIP eligible points.

I think we did pretty well in 2014. Not being so unhealthy for the year helped.

We had 14,700 points at years end because I booked mostly Last Minute for 2 and 3 bedroom units for 2 to 5 nights at a time.
