RCI Points RTU Ad

I'm not sure how to go about broaching this but I'm wondering about the ad for a 3 year RTU for getting into RCI Points without making a major committment.

I would hope that the ad on TS4MS is legit.

Can you really make a 3 year RTU in California?

Is there some fly in the ointment that I'm not seeing?

I hope its legitt. I bought some 2 weeks ago. I hope I did my homework on it. It looks like a good deal. I was wanting to buy deeded points but saw this and thought it might be good to try to see if points would work for us. We've never owned timeshares, and thought points would be the way to go. They said it would take 6-8weeks to get registered with RCI. I'll let you know how it goes.

It sure looks okay to me, after talking via email to opkansas, I felt comfortable with his answers. I was going to "dive" in but really have so many points that this would have been a not-so-great plan for us.

I would hope that the ad on TS4MS is legit. LEGIT! CLUB TRINIDAD WAS THE GETAWAY FOR SINATA, MARTIN, SAMMY . . . ETC. TURNED INTO TIMESHARE IN 1981 - IN RCI SINCE 1985.

Club Trinidad has had a policy for years that OWNERS have the option to stay one more week - ADOPT A WEEK - which is based upon availability from weeks 12 to 50. The WEEKS MF is as follows: Studio - $360.00. 1 BR - $390.00. 2 BR - $460.00.

The Points Owners now have the option to Adopt a Week to either USE AT CLUB TRINIDAD or to TRADE WITHIN CLUB TRINIDAD'S OWN EXCHANGE - CT EXCHANGE (Exchange fee $ 75.00).

I'm new on the forums (and timeshares), but saw this ad back in March/April 2007. I wrote directly to the resort to check the validity. The general manager wrote back. The ad is legit. I signed up and got a 13,000 point RCI membership. With closing costs and RCI points membership fee, I paid a total of $727. After that, my understanding is that the next $99 is paid directly to RCI. CT gets 130 annually for maintenance fees.

I filled out some forms and received a certificate in the mail. (Mostly for show), RCI had my points membership set up by April 15th, with an effective date of May 1. The RTU is good for 12 years.

One thing to keep in mind, you will still have to pay annual RCI dues. The $130 just gives you the points. So in April 2008, I will have to renew my points membership with RCI.

I have a 4 bdrm lockout in Virginia. I deposit it into RCI as 2 - 2bdrms, red time for a total of 121,000 points (for $427 a year maintenance), plus I get 13,000 ($130+33) a year from Club Trinidad/RCI.

I guess the other thing(s) to keep in mind is that not all resorts qualify for points for deposit. Also, RCI may decide to change or eliminate pfd altogether at a later date.

But, the Club Trinidad offer is legit.
