  • FF Home Court Advantage?

I've taken the plunge, put in my baby toe and bought 105K pts in Fairfield. So how do I take advantage of my little bitty points pool to get the best possible access to my "home resort" where I purchased? 105K doesn't buy a heck of alot. I don't want to go during prime summer, but shoulder season would be better than dead of winter.

Are there any "discounts" or other ways to use fewer points, say, if booking within a short timeframe before check-in date? What does Fairfield do with cancellations and how can one best snap up one of those? Any Fairfield owners care to share some advice with this FF newbie? TIA!

This question is probably best answered by looking in Wyndham/ff threads and you should join the FF HOA group here.
Frankly the best info I have found on Fairfield anywhere is the Yahoo group and the info you questioned is in their files section..also they are the most knowledgeable FF owner group I am aware of and I will post a direct link to their request for membership as soon as I find it.

I wasn't an owner so not allowed to join the FF group here; the yahoo group I did join and am ploughing through their files but haven't found specific answers to my questions yet. I think I'll just wait til I get an account number to explore the Fairfield website and their ressie system online (which I've heard isn't that great.) Meanwhile another poster OY gave me lots of good info on my same query...so I've got a pretty good start.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

So, you are saying that you want to go to your home resort?

Depending which resort that is, you may be able to stretch those points, by depositing them into RCI (assuming your resort isn't in interval-very unlikely)

One suggestion is to make a 70k deposit-searchable(hard to get 28k searchable) and then a generic 28k. You will pull many resorts with the 70k and then call RCI, but try to use your 28k deposit.

You'll be surprised at what those 28k deposits will pull. I've been to Hawaii on them and just booked a GM in mexico.

I'm sure others will have clever ideas to help you out.

        Good luck. Have fun!

                  Hi there!

I bought specifically at the resort I'd like to visit, Fairfield Alexandria (I used to live in metro DC and miss my friends!) Unfortunately 105K pts doesn't buy much there, unless one likes cross-country ski'ing on the Mall.

The other FF resort I'd like is the one on Edisto Island, because I've seen it from the outside and like the layout and location. I don't have any burning desire to go to other FF resorts at this time. Btw I like to travel shoulder season and am not a slave to school calendars, so hopefully my chances will be good for getting a nice FF exchange in other than prime seasons.

Thanks so much for posting and for your great advice!

You could book 4 days in Prime or 6 days in High at Alexandria in a 1BR. If you rent 21K you could get a full week in High at 10 months out.

Carol....once you have a FF account you can rent points from other account owners (they will transfer into you account) then you will have the points you need for any trip. Hint: When looking through the yahoo group data you will see many owners renting points below FF rent price. If you rent from others the points can be used prior to 10 month window and you do not have to wait for the 90 day prior to check in window to borrow from next year.
