  • NEW TS4Ms CHAT:Fairfield/Wyndham pts/Weds,April 18

The next live, real-time chat on Timeshare Forums will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. The topic will be Fairfield/Wyndham resorts and points program...the pros, cons, changes with the new Wyndham branding, and much more. This will be a great opportunity for FF/Wyn newbies and owners alike to share in a focused conversation in real time.

Our special guest for the evening chat will be Tom Cornelius, a longtime Fairfield points owner and reseller. Tom is from Ohio, married with two kids, and enjoys traveling 6 weeks a year. He currently has about 3 million FF/Wyn points in his personal account, with his first package bought in 1991 (2 converted Williamsburg Patriots Place deeds for a total of 336,000 points). Now, according to Fairfield, Tom is one of the largest converters of fixed weeks to points in the system, with conversion fees paid to FF in the 6 figures for the last 2 years. Tom divides his working hours about 60-40 between his involvement with FF/Wyn points and his CPA practice started in 1976.

We're hoping to prepare in advance a set of questions to quickly get the ball rolling with the chat. Please send your FF/Wyn questions to TS4Ms' Mike (mshatty) who will compile them to send to Tom in advance.

We hope you'll join our guest Tom Cornelius and TS4Ms members for what will surely be an informative and lively conversation. Mark your calendars and please help spread the word...Fairfield/Wyndham points chat on TS4Ms: Wednesday, April 18 at 8:30 PM Eastern.

    wyndham /FF chat

Dang ..that's a work nite fer me ..can't make it ..will try again when the next one comes up.would it be possible to post any really relevant info on a seperate thread to be viewed later? BTW ..FYI ...W/FF has either blocked me or changed their e-mail addy..For those who followed my complaint thread about denial of usage...i filed a complaint on squeakywheel.com and they send a email to the company , notifying company someone has viewed my complaint and now the e-mails are being returned to me with a "address unknown" heading. Guess that speaks volumes about Wyndham.

This should be fun. I plan on attending.

Just a question. Why would he pay FF over $100,000 in conversion fees if he only has 3M points? You can purchase 3M FF points for around $60,000. That seems like the wrong number, no?

Hi again....A question I have is how does a owner actually go about "renting" out his points ? Do they have to sign off on some paperwork ? who do they contact to rent the pts out or tell they are available? Id this subject covered in another thread someplace? You think that makes sense, Boca and Jya-Ning? I was thinking the same thing because if he pays the conversion fee that I have seen for Fairfield, I don't see any profit in it.

I am hoping he can offer me advice on my PAHIO weeks, which are now 5! I just bought another week on ebay (unfortunately, unfortunately, from one of the resellers I abhor at Vacation Solutions). I need to shut down that ebay account. I am so happy about my bargain but not about the history of the week.

FF charges less if you "bulk-convert"; by converting several weeks at once, you get a discount on the conversion rate. What's more, the conversion rate is flat, not per-point. As long as (1) you are converting "high-point-value" weeks, (2) typically convert several at a time, and (3) get your fixed week inventory for little or no cost, then there is room to make a little something. Not a lot, but if you're turning over a lot of weeks, then there is room to do okay.

The rumors are spreading amongst PAHIO owners through our Yahoo Group and on TUG that Wyndham will not allow us to just convert our weeks. They will only convert our existing weeks if we pay $17K for another bunch of points. I am not impressed with that and Rick refuses to go to the "owner's update," which will be in just a few short weeks. We are staying at Shearwater starting April 22nd.

                        Questions for the chat

Which resort has the lowest maint fees for a fixed week (with high points)?

Also, do you think it is worth buying points from Wyndham to get VIP (or VIP gold)?

If yes, then what is the cheapest way to do that

                        Thanks in advance
