  • Something Brewing with RCI Points??

Just received the text below in an e-mail.
Wonder what RCI Points is up to?

    Dear Melvin and Rita Henley,

I wanted to be the very first to tell you about some BIG changes that can help you make the most of your RCI Points®. Over the next few weeks and months, we’re rolling out the biggest program expansion since we launched the RCI Points program in 2000. All to make using your RCI Points easier – and more exciting – than ever before.

We’re going farther to help you make the most of your RCI Points – and your vacations. Of course, all of your existing RCI Points Subscribing Member benefits will remain unchanged. Keep an eye on your mailbox next month for more information on the new features. A whole new level of opportunity awaits!

    Regards,

    Kenneth N. May
    Chairman & CEO
    Group RCI

That yellow writing is hard to read.

opkansas made some mention of changes to come on June 1st. I am not looking forward to changes because our benefits only go downward with every change RCI makes. I am nervous and worried about it.

Probaby more ways to spend those points other than on timeshare stays, which will mean more rental profits for RCI and less availability for points exchangers if they want to actually use their points for timeshare stays.

IMO, to many people buy timeshares they can't use for vacation stays. They then make any use they can from them by purchasing other goods and services. At that point there is less availability for the ones who actaully want to use their timeshares. Points programs that allow points to be used for everything under the sun are great for the exchange company and can be a bad thing for the owners who want to exchange their timeshare.

Pure speculation: making a formal connection between RCI Points and Wyndham's TripRewards program; i.e., allowing RCI Points to be converted to TripRewards Points and probably vice versa.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Speculation? I thought that RCI points could already be used to pay for car rentals, airfare for cruises. Is that assumtiong incorrect? Since I'm only a weeks member it's not something I've followed in detail. I've always just sort of assumed that the complaints about RCI renting out weeks came from points members spending their points on services other than timeshare vacations.

But, since I'm in the speculating mood. How about using your points to pay for your RCI membership, to purchase merchandise out of a catalog, to convert to hotel rewards points or any of the other things that credit card companies allow their points to be spent on.

            Guess...

,,,we will have to wait until the next shoe drops. My personal opinion is that whatever happens won't be good for the consumer.

Never mind, I read your post wrong.

I believe YOU were speculating as to what RCI was planning and not saying that I was speculating......which of course I was anyway.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean people aren't out to get me.
