  • Newbie Question...oops, they got me

Total newbie here. My only previous experience with T/S was 30 some years ago when I got a free camera for attending presentation for a t/s which I could never afford.

Anyway, just got back from a vacation in San Fran. We got corralled into a Shell Vacation Club presentation. Bottom line....we walked out 2 hours later after signing a contract for over $14,000 for 2500 points.

Two questions: How big af a idiot am I?
    and
Since I am still within my 7 day recission window, how fast should I send in my Notice to Recind?

Seriously, I saw an ebay listing 2500 Shell Vacation Points for $499.
    How can this be???

I now realize that perhaps we acted a little hastily. Will I have a problem getting my deposit back?

My head started spinning after reading the forum for awhile. It would be easier to learn Latin.

Not that big of idiot, each year, over 200,000 new buyers. But you should rescind now.

There is not enough people to support a resale market in TS, so if you really want, after you read through the Shell program (like
Shell Vacation Club (SVC) Points Knowledge thread - TUG Bulletin Board
Newbie's Questions about Shell Vacations - TUG Bulletin Board) They do have some nice resorts. And since a lot their resorts are in high cost area, their MF is on the high end.

After you understand what you will get, then you may want to figure out how you want to protect yourselves and how to value the TS to you. Then you can just take advantage of eBay.

Recind now, join TimeshareForums and spend 9-12 months asking questions and learning. When you do recind, be sure to do it by the number, exactly like it is in your contract. Send a register letter with return receipt so that you can prove you wish to recind in the time frame allowed.

        Welcome!

You paid way too much money for this. When you rescind, make sure to follow the instructions to the word!

Good advise up above. Do exactly what the contract says you must and do it immediately.

Don't beat yourself up too badly. Plenty of us bought from the developer first and are now making the most of it!

When you rescind, make sure to follow the instructions to the word CAREFULLY! Send via certified letter AND UPS next day air. Send EMail to them advising how and when you sent.

You are not an idiot at all because you took the time to search the Internet while it wasn't too late yet to rescind. Most people put the paperwork aside and continue with their vacation so are too late to rescind when they find out that there are re-sales available for a much lower price.

Lots of people do exactly what you did, only they don't know where to go to get advice.
Be VERY careful to follow the contract exactly in reference to rescinding and keep copies of everything, especially the receipts from the post office.
You can still enjoy timesharing by purchasing on Ebay for a fraction of the cost.
                    Welcome.
