I've never used RCI Points to rent a car, but am considering doing so for an upcoming two week plus car rental, simply because I have a pile of aging points which I can use to do so. I know it's not the best possible use of points, but that's not really my question....
When I rent a car on a Gold or Platinum MC or VISA, insurance is taken care of at no additional cost to me, by mere virtue of having used that Gold or Platinum card in the first place.
But....what is the status of insurance if a car rental is acquired via RCI Points? Am I simply uninsured unless I then pay the larcenous rental co. insurance rates myself? If so, the points idea may truly be cost ineffective.
I considered calling RCI three times to get three different answers (quite possibly none of them actually being correct). Thought I'd try here instead. Any direct, first hand knowledge or experience would be welcomed and appreciated.
TIA
