  • Does this sound right?

    Hi all,

    Brief history:

We own a deeded ts at Wyndham Sea Gardens Pompano Beach Fl. (wk 26)
We have never converted to points
We do not belong to RCI

We recently took a tour of Bonnet Creek in Orlando. We didn't want to buy, but since we hadn't converted to points, I figured we'd get the low down at that time. Much to my chagrin the manager there told us we couldn't convert to points because our resort was on a list that had amazingly just come out 2 days ago. Imagine that..... just 2 days prior to this tour. After the manager checked on something, he said the only way we could convert the ts into points was if we bought into Bonnet Creek. This was some sort of a one time only "on site conversion" He also went on to say we'd still have to pay the maintenance and taxes at Sea Gardens. So I asked him why, if the resort is owned by Wyndham, couldn't we convert. He told us that Wyndham didn't own all the buildings in the resort and we happened to be in one they didn't own. HUH??? To make a long story short, we didn't buy into Bonnet Creek and now we're stuck with a ts we can't convert into points even if we wanted to.

Anybody here of this before? Does this sound right to you guys?

Not doing this at all, so can not tell you if your resort can or can not be converted for sure (Actually, I am pretty sure your resort can be converted).

Wyndham does not own any building. Any building they own, is a loss of money on their book. And although sometimes, if HOA does not agree with Wyndham, the week can not be converted, however, I doubt that is in your cases. You are talking to a sale's person. The sales can not do conversion without you buying point from them.

Since if you can buy FF points to convert this week, it means the week is convertable. You just need to talk to the corp people that does not do sales. Although I am not sure if just convert one week even if it is pretty good point ratio to MF situation worth the trouble.

They don't take any non-FF week. They have either PIC program (if week can not be converted but is in RCI a non point resort program), or convert program.

Zentenn... don't spend your time worrying about it... you wouldn't/shouldn't want to convert anyway... why spend at least $2395 for the sole privilege to convert to points when you can keep your fixed week (which is GREAT for doing RCI searches with an internal exchange priority for other Wyndham resorts) and buy resale an additional 240,000+ points???...
