  • Points alias for floating weeks

Points are just another name for floating weeks. You never know what week or unit you will be assigned. It is all "based on availability" whatever that means. Points amounts overlap(like floating weeks colors) and the developer has control over it's points and assigns(rents them) the weeks.

When I use my RCI points I don't know or care which week RCI got from my resort. I never plan to stay there, I bought it for the flexibility that the points give me to go other places.

In the RCI points program it is definitely possible to have a fixed week that has been 'converted' to points. In that case, you would be able to use your fixed week when you want to.

Although close to floating, it is not. In stead of only one week, you can take more off-season week for the same amount of points and it is guaranteed, not like floating you will have to reply on the exchange company to give you ACs. You can also split into mini vacations, or travel along instead of have to use all in whole week or loss it.
