Hi all....total newbie here.Great forum by the way. If a person owned a fixed week at a resort with say....18,000 points....are any of those points used for that week when the fixed week is used? Also, if one wanted to exchange their week for another week at the same resort, would points be used then? Thanks in advance.

Whose points are you asking about... Wyndham, Worldmark, other??
All TS companies have completely different systems.

There are very few free lunches in timesharing and when it comes to RCI, there are even fewer. Of course, your points get used when you book your same week or any week at your home resort.

Thanks for the reply. So if I had 18,000 points but I wanted to go to another resort that was 26,000 points for a week, then I would have to borrow 8,000 points from the following year to make the exchange? Thanks in advance.

Do you have an RCI points account??

Or are you just looking at points and trying to make some sense out of RCI?

Just because your resort has become a points resort, that doesn't mean you have points.
Most resorts try to get you to convert by hiring a 3 party sales company that will want to collect $$$$ from you to add RCI points to your ownership.

For a small amount of points (18k) it doesn't even start to make economic sense to convert.

If on the other hand you have a points account and are trying to learn how best to use your points. Please keep reading and asking your questions.
