    Joylove,

You have been given sound advice. I bought my first BG points from the developer before I learned about resale. I don't regret my developer purchase because I know I never would have gone through with a resale purchase (confirmed workaholic) and would have missed 10 great years at BG (and other) resorts.

You should consider joining the BG Yahoo Group for additional information on the BG system.

Don't feel bad - lots of people have made the same mistake after the sales pitch from the smooth talking salesperson. Timeshares are a very delightful wonderful idea....just not at such a high price. I would only by resale myself - never from a developer, way to expensive for me. Ebay is were I purchased mine. Recind ASAP

Charles is giving you great advice above.

Rescind following the instructions explicitly and send it certified mail, return receipt so you have proof they received it.

You can buy resale points for 2/3 LESS than you paid (at least).............It is not unusual to pay over $2 per annual point for BG points to the developer (which you did)......it is not unusual to buy BG points resale with all the benefits you had from the developer for $.50 per point. that's at least 75% less!

Others: Joy posted this in two places apparently and therefore, Big Frank sent it to this forum. Joy also posted it in the Bluegreen forum. Big Frank was doing job as an owner/moderator however it made Joy's post look as if she wasn't identifying what timeshare she had purchased.

Joy: send me a private message and I will send you my e-mail and phone # and you can contact me that way and we can make alot more progress, faster, over the phone.

You also will need to decide if you want to keep the large book and bag they gave you. If you buy resale in the future, it might be a handy tool to have, but they will charge you $75 for it. Do the same with that--certified mail, return receipt.

Also, apparently you got a mortgage.............even IF you had gotten a great deal from BG, I would encourage you to rescind as getting a loan for anything in my humble opinion is not a good thing but especially getting a loan to pay for a timeshare is awful, especially when you find out what it's resale value is worth............if you sell it for $.50 per point, you have to pay a $2,000 commission to the "realtor" (Pinnacle Vacations).............otherwise, you MIGHT be able to sell it on your own for about a quarter per point. If you are disabled and need to liquidate some of your assets to get out from under payments, you will be unhappy to find out you owe much more than you can get out of your timeshare.

Thanks, Marsha! I am in a hurry and my previous post may come across as harsh. It is not meant to be.........................do not feel bad; feel very glad you got here in time.

Join the yahoo group for bluegreen.........................and stay a member of this one too! Great info in both places.

Just an added comment about what Marsha said....I initially bought from the developer in December 2002 and have three times since bought from the developer and I have bought at least nine resale packages of points over time. Over time, you will learn there have been times and currently are times and in the future there will will be times again, when there are indeed reasons for buying from the developer.................

For what it is worth, now, I will share as Charles did somewhat. I bought from the developer first time we went........................and had I known about resale, I would have cancelled but I doubt I would have ever bought resale. It still takes quite a chunk of change to buy resale....not per point and you get alot more points for your money but it still is alot....and you don't have a salesperson playing with your mind to get you to buy. I would have had a sanity moment and said, "I'm not paying out that much money for a timeshare when I have other places I could put that same money."

And then I would have missed out on some awesome vacations with my family and/or husband: Acapulco, Dominican Republic, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head Island, etc.

So, when you can pay cash for it, I highly encourage you to buy some BG points. Meanwhile, many of us on this board, rent out reservations and for a small amount of points, you might be better off financially to rent off one of us than to pay maintenance fees for those pointas. If you are going to own less than 10,000 annual points, it probably would be more cost effective for you to just rent rather than own.

On the other hand, if you are gung ho to purchase and can only do so by getting a mortgage on those points--the only way to do that (except with a home equity loan or some other loan secured by collatteral) is through Bluegreen.................but again I discourage getting a loan for a timeshare for the reasons written in one of my earlier posts today on this subject.

You didn't make a huge mistake...............even if you had not found us in time to rescind, it would still not be a huge mistake. Live and learn, yes.......but I am so glad I bought from the developer the first time around. And I wouldn't have nearly the points I have today if it weren't for finding out about resale.

Besides, you got a nice gift out of the deal, didn't you, for attending the sales presentation?????

It is legit but many people find that the restrictions about when you can travel often make them less attractive.

Maybe we acted too quick. I will admit that. Don't make me feel bad!! I am looking for advice of those with experience.

I am gald that you are going to cancel.

Was this your first timeshare presentation? It sounds like it was.

My experiance tells me that you are not very good at negotiating as per your Quote " We wanted to negotiate but they weren't willing to budge on the price. You would have felt bad for a long time, if you did not recind when many knowlegdeable people told you to while their is time.

For what you paid you can get about 12,000 yearly BG Points per year with all of the same benifiets compared to your 3,000 yearly BG Points. But if you like paying 4 times more for the same product, then do not take the advice of experianced BG owners who posted to ter and help you and do not cancel by certifeid mail that reqires a signature.

Heck for what you paid some of us can get 2 to 20 or more yearly reservations in 2 bedroom units in red, white and Blue time.

Your 6,000 EOY points will get you just a one bedroom in mostly non peak time every other year in the point BG Point resorts but not in all of the higher BG Point resorts in prime time. If you check out on line the amount of BG Points needed at the various BG resorts you will verify that fact.

IMHO I strongly suggest that you spend just one hour reading the old posts on this site in a effort to understand why people are telling you to recind and to start to understand the system.

I will also tell you that if you go to sell one month form now you would only get about $600 to $1,200 on the resale market. If you doubt me, and go to ebay COMPLETED BG auctions.

After seeing the price you would get for 6,000 EOY Points you and your hubby will be soooooooooooooo gald that you recinded.

There are many of those type of offers out there from many companies. Bill is correct that they can have a lot of restrictions.
