  • Rci deposits

    Shawn at Wyndham states the deposit increments are now 28, 42, 63, 77, 105 & 154.

He also stated that RCI exchanges are $164 each regardless of deposit size.

    Does anyone know differently?

    From the Wyndham website....

Select the Deposit Unit Type and Season below:*
Season Demand Studio 1 BR 2 BR 3 BR or more
    RCI Red
    II Red
    Greater 70,000 105,000 154,000 254,000

    RCI White
    II Yellow
    Average 42,000 77,000 126,000 189,000

    RCI Blue
    II Green
    Lesser 28,000 63,000 77,000 154,000

I am with II so I do not know what the RCI exchange fee is but $164 sounds right

      Thanks Pat,

From that, it would appear the only thing we gain is deferment at the cost of paying the price.
$168 to take vactions in 2009 and 2010 rather than in Nov/Dec 2008. Doesn't sound like a bargain, only an option.

It depends. Many of my RCI exchanges have been by depositing a studio's worth of points, but trading into 2 or 3BR units during High or Prime season. Depending on what you are depositing, and what you are getting in return, you can see some nice discounts on obtaining full-week units.

          Yup - what Brian said

Many report excellent trades using a 28K studio.

Right now our Wyndham points expire with 2008 and we don't really know that we care to GO yet as we still have dental and medical stuff to take care of.

Lets say I have Wyndham make 28k deposits (as many as possible from our 371k points), we could wind up with 13 units in the RCI space bank.

By exchanging 13 units through RCI, we could be on the road to many places in the next two years, at $164 per trip. That's over $2000 for the 'opportunity' plus travel expenses.

With economy as expected, will we care for the travel cost of 10 extra timeshare trips?

The possibility of the grabbed weeks being in succession is another challenge. Who wants to backtrack around the country? I dream of it being another cross country but with timeshare living rather than camping.

When resort deposit to RCI, they do deposit as continue batch, so you may get chance to grab a few countinuous.

I had leftover points as well for 2008 - I chose to do 2 77K 2BRs and 1 63K 1BRs as I don't have TIME to take advantage of those 13 weeks of travel like you - my points are with II and they are more 'unit size' driven then RCI. Traveling for 3 months for $2,000 plus your MFs doesn't sound like a bad deal....maybe plan on doing a few 'mini trips' 3-4 weeks each rather then one big one - it seems less daunting that way

Right. The big question: how many weeks could you possibly make use of? If it isn't very many, deposit points in fewer, larger chunks.

Here's a concerete example of what I'm talking about. I recently exchanged a 70K red studio for a 2BR unit at Wyndham Smoky Mountians in late June 2009. Booked internally, it would require 166K points. As an exchange, I obtained it for 70K + $164.

If points are worth $5/K, the "equivalent cost" is $514 instead of $830. But, that savings doesn't matter if I don't have an alternate use for those other points.

Moving on along, time didn't stand still for us

DW has been ill. We will be lucky to get one resort in, in 2008.

Have 371k to split up. I'm thinking 2 as 70k and the rest as 28k, just to use up as many as we can! But then, how does being VIP come into play on that?

As far as being able to use up all those weeks, I figure they are a wash now. At least we might get out and use them, if we are well.

May be able to use them right here at Williamsburg if nowhere else. Probably spend more then that for utilities if we stayed home. May be able to check others in, since we live right here.

Gold and Plat VIP get a one-size upgrade for blue and white deposits. So, the 28K blue studios will end up being 63K blue 1BRs. I'm not sure how much that helps.

We are VIP with over 300k points, for whatever that equates. I'm sure we'd enjoy 1BRs over studios.

Any deposit upgrades, are they done by Wyndham as the deposits are placed with RCI? Is this something I need to ask (demand) for, or is it automatic.

How does one know for sure what deposits will be made?

If you are not gold or platinum VIP, upgrade won't apply.

                            Online depositing?

Seems simple enough to fill in the form online.

By doing this, how will I know I can get Visable deposits? Do I just wait till I see them online in my account?

                            I'm thinking of asking for 2- 70k and 8- 28k. That uses up 364k of our 371k.
I don't know if Wyndham will give us VIP upgrades. ????? That remains to be seen!!!!!

                              Hello,

Are you VIP? if so then they have no option other than give you the upgrade on any blue and white weeks you deposit into RCI. That is your rights as a VIP.

Sorry, I just double check and you have to be a min. of VIP Gold to get the size upgrade.

                              Vincent.
