Another Newbie Seeking Advice

Okay, new to this and just purchased 84K points/yr at Bonnett Creek by Disney through Wyndham. Spent roughly $15K which included 210K in bonus points which means 2 yrs of VIP status, and the Plus Partners and FSP included as well. Now I know we'll use our vacations each year (and then some), but did we just get taken here? We'd plan to come to Disney every so often, but will be staying at various locations more often. It seems the only real benefit to the property you own is you can make reservations 13 months in advance vs 10 months. Any other benefit to which property you own?

Did I mention, I'm still in my 10 day cooling period?

go on eBay and see what your 84K points sell for, it's about $1 if a contract that small even sells. So if 210K in bonus points which means 2 yrs of VIP status, and the Plus Partners and FSP included and the Bonnet Creek priority are worth $15K to you, don't think about rescinding.

RESCIND!

Rescind now. Follow the directions in your contract. Send however they want it (usually USPS) with a return receipt. Return EVERYTHING they gave you.

Decide what your travel plans are, read as much as you can here, ask questions. We are all willing to share what we know with you.

I guarantee you will find a product that will suit you for less than 25% of what you just agreed to pay in aftermarket and if not the "deal" from Wyndham will be there in a few months.

Rescind. Right now. The deal will be there tomorrow if, after research, you decide its the best deal for you.

Follow the contract and Rescind.

You may not get take, but there is not much value in resell market to start with anyway, not to mention at a bad economic situation like this one.

Yes, you got took, taken, fleeced, conned, ripped off or taken advantage of and you should rescind as per all advice so far.

Added: If you look at the points charts you are basically paying $7,500 per week of vacation for two years and reverting to nothingness. Not a deal.

We are all great fans of timeshare here. It is much better to purchase resale because you save many thousands of dollars. Follow your rescind instructions exactly. If US postal service, mail certified with return receipt. Don't let the salesperson sweet talk you out of rescinding.

If it's about dollars, using our m/l free resales and the dinosaur Weeks program with RCI, we are able to get the best resorts available for an out-of-pocket of about $750 per week and most of the better resorts for an out-of-pocket of about $450 per week.

Near Disney for instance we can get 3-bedroom units at OL with either deposit. If I remember, when RCI is back up I will check Bonnet Creek availability.

Without even comparing to other ways of doing it, think of how many vacations you could take for $15000 plus annual fees. Where we're at in our thinking, all this only makes sense if you don't have to pay for ownership.
