Buying points from private seller

Due to the current real estate crunch there seem to be an abundance of points for sale mat various places, including Ebay. Can these points be added to my current points which I own at Diamond and Festiva Resorts?
Do the combined points change my maintanance fee or can it be adjusted? Do I have to buy points that originated at my "home" resort in order to combine them with my current points? Are any points that I buy available for use of Interval International.
I've done more research for my time shares than I did for my Masters degree and am STILL confused.

Diamond does not allow "club points" to be sold resale. The only thing which Diamond allows sold is the underlying weeks.

But for years they did allow you to buy resale, then if you bought more pts direct from diamond, to also add the resale weeks into the club.
