  • Shell Vacation Club Question

I am interested why there is so little on this board on the Shell Vacation Club? I am not a SVC owner, but looking at it. Is it the resorts, the company, the maintenance fees, all the above? I have seen a small thread on it OY, but not much anywhere. Just wonderin'....

There is a 5 page thread oy

Shell Vacation Club (SVC) Points Knowledge thread - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums

The Shell program has some pretty nice resorts in some very nice places. The major drawback is their annual fees are on the high side for what they offer.
Some have compared SVC to the Westin/ Marriot/Hilton type quality.

Imho, their resorts while comfortable don't equal these premium brands in amenities, quality or services.

Their annual fees run around 120-150% of the same exact units in the same resorts that were not sold as points. i.e. a Orange Tree 1 bedroom unit the non-point unit the annual fees are about $575, for a points unit during the Prime season it takes 4150 points with an annual fee of about $865 ( depends upon how many points you own, could be as high as $1400)

Shell sold a lot of tiny packages, 1250,1500,1750,2000,2250,2500, where the annual fees are very high per point, and it will take 2 to 3 years worth of points for a week somewhere nice during prime season.

    I hope this helps.

    fwiw,

    Greg

There is also an SFX rep who provides great assistance on this site. We've been quite happy with Shell, though their MF's do run a bit higher than deeded weeks - but they're not deal-breakers. There are conveniences to SVC, but those may be more valuable to some folks than others.
