  • RCI points/rules & Disney ??

I have been reading and it seems like there are mixed answers about whether the point system is effected by the 1 in 4 rules, im specifically interested in the GPR in Cali. So can anyone clear up the question if i go to the resort can i go again the next year if it is a points resort?

Also I used to be able to see Disney Orlando resorts with my points account and now i cant see any... does anybody with points see Disney??

I tried to see DVC with my points this morning and saw nothing for any dates. Not sure why I can't. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

The 1 in 4 applies to all weeks bookings (using points) for the GPR resorts. I do not believe it applies to any of the points bookings. Since Carlsbad Seapointe is the only points resort, that would be the only one I could believe you can book into again. I'm also a GPR owner so I've never had a problem.

How are you searching? I'm online right now and they're still all there. Pick search Orlando area and you'll get 27 resorts, of which the Disney's are there.

And you are using a points account to search under weeks inventory?

No. I'm using my points to look at points reservations. You will not see any Disneys using points to search weeks inventory because the Disney's are Points resorts.

Whenever a resort is points afiliated, you cannot see weeks reservations using points, regardless if we know they are there. That's alwasy been the case. You have to use the weeks account to see those weeks deposits.

I have never heard of a regional block using Points.

It happened to me. I had 2 exchanges on the points side for DVC. The points I used were transferred into my account by a friend who was not able to use his points. I made the exchange and then about a week later was told by RCI my exchanges were going to be cancelled because I own points at a resort in Orlando. I told RCI that the exchanges were gotten with my friend's points who tranferred them into my account. RCI said it didn't matter. As long as I owned points at a resort in Orlando I cannot exchange into DVC. They did say I could exchange on the weeks side as long as I did not own any weeks in Orlando. I love going to Disney and I didn't want any future hassles so I immediately sold my points in Orlando (I had it sold and closed within 2 weeks!) Now I don't have to worry about the regional block! Kind of drastic I know, but that is how much we love staying at DVC!

I think as long as you don't own the points in the Orlando you should be fine.

Thank you for sharing that. I had never even heard of a regional block on points. I like when I learn something new ( but not necessarily what I learned ).

Just to clarify; is it owning points in Orlando or owning points in Florida?

I was told the Orlando area.
