• help with my RCI points

I purchased this in March and have had 2 transaction for 70,620pts

OK under my account info it says this:
use year dates: nov, 01 2008 - oct 31 2009
current use year: 2008
2008 annual points allocation: 81,000
current use year balance: 0
2009 use year balance:10380

Why would my current use balance be 0. Am i Borrowing points from 2009 right now??
And i will get another 81, 000 points on oct 31 2009 correct?
Im just confused on the "use year" i guess

Also the other thread commented on points expiring if you dont use them by a certain date you actually had to go to the resort by then, i havent read anything saying that just that you have to make a transaction by then, not that you had to actually go by then.

ahhhh... so confused

I have a very similar use year. It gets so confusing. If you booked something past the end of your use year RCI seems to carry forward all your remaining points. If you need to pull them back they call it borrowing from 2009 use year but no fee to do so. If you get your 81000 points annually you should have those along with your 10380 showing in your 2009 balance. If your account is biennial you would be able to borrow your 2010 points for exchanges after November 1, 2009. I have two different biennial points and that is how it works for me. Maybe annual waits until the anniversary to display next year's points.

How RCI keeps track of points can be confusing. Until you make your first reservation in your use year, it will show "correctly". However, RCI has an automatic points saving feature so that when you make your first reservation of the use year, any remaining points are automatically rolled over into the next use year and saved. At the end of the next use year, if they aren't used, then they disappear or you can pay to have then saved for one more year.

Yes, it's very confusing. I even asked for an RCI accounting so I could audit my points - what they sent made me even more confused.

Here's what I did learn. The points are deducted from the year that the reservation is in, not the year we book. So even when I'm in use year 2008 & can borrow from the 2009 points available, when I booked a week in 2010 - the points came from my 2010 use year.

If I have any points left at the end of my 2008 use year, I have to roll them into 2009 (by phone request). If I don't use the old points by the end of my 2009 use year, those points expire.

I track it on my own and my numbers never coincide with what's shown on RCI's website.

Why would my current use balance be 0. Am i Borrowing points from 2009 right now?? You current year starts Nov 1, 2008 (based on this date the current use year 2008). This is the date you are allocated 81,000 pt and expires on Oct 31, 2009 if you have no transaction. If you have a transaction, the remianing points are automaticaaly carried over to the following year (You next contract year begin Nov 1, 2009 and therefore the current use year of 2009) and expires on October 31, 2010 without additional fee.

That is what happened to me last weekend. My use year is Nov. So I am still in 08 use year. I booked a July 2011 vacation last weekend. It should be out of my 2010 use year points. Next time I log online, I found my 2009 UY point is now 0. I called RCI and found that they rolled over all my 09 points to 10. They also do not seem to have a good way to keep track of when that happened, how many points were rolled over. She kept telling me I can borrow back if I need.

It could work out fine for me. The only downside is now I can't keep track of my points at all. My rci account online show 0 points for 08 and 09 use year. I cannot see my 2010 points online. She told me this problem will go away after Nov 30 when my current use year becomes 09.
