do points accounts have a nationality?

I'm a points newbie, owning 50,000 'next generation' rci points at a UK resort.
I have seen offers to sell (usa) rci points as a once-off use with no maint fee, but am concerned that I may not be able to accept them into a UK points account. I have seen other examples of these that specify an acount starting with "1-" (this may not be a problem as I am still awaiting my account number details due to UK postal strike)

If I can accept these points, will their specific expiry alter my own original points expiry (or even the other way round)?

What are ''next generation'' points? It sounds like those with ''old'' points may soon be in the crapper. That is the way a number of older points programs in Europe have worked, and in South Africa as well. Is RCI playing the same game?

apparently these are where the resort itself manages its own maintenance and fees are kept low (also in UK, annual rises in fees cannot exceed the UK retail price index)

When I had a points account, points from different resorts expired at different times dependent on the anniversary date of each resort.

With my account, points were points regardless of where they were from even though the account was prefix is dependent on the country of resident of the owner, e.g. 1 for U.S., 4 for Australia. There are people who live in the US who had RCI pts deposited based on resorts they own in Australia and the points were deposited in the same account as the pts they received from resorts they own in the U.S.

us vs uk points systems

I have a UK rci points account and understand that I must have a US rci account to take advantage of the 'late call / 9000 points' offers.

If I purchased US based week(s) I assume I can set up a separate US account to put them into (and convert the weeks to points? )

If you need a US based RCI account, I would think you would need a US based RCI points account. Why bother with the expense of converting a week to points, just buy a points based unit.

If you tell me what areas you want to trade into within the next 45 days, I can look to see if there is any availability. You should try to make sure that the areas you want to trade into at the last minute will be there in the seasons you want to go before you go to all that trouble.
