I have a silver and gold week 2br at the Mountainside in Park City. I rarely ever use it and deposit it as a 2br in II. We like to travel last minute and have been able to use both the silver and gold weeks to get 2br at newport coast, Waiohai, and even Lahaina Villas. Does anyone know that if I split the lockout and deposited two units into Interval, would I be able to get the 2 bedrooms at the same places or would I not see these type of trades in II?

You can split it as long as you deposit it into II as a split unit. You can get a 2 bedroom if it is available. Just keep in mind that you are trading a 1 bedroom and you should be trading into a 1 bedroom, Some reps will let you get the 2 bedroom but not all. If you start a search you have to start looking for 1 bedrooms and if that comes in then you are for the most part committed.

Newport Coast Villas and the Waiohai only have two bedroom units so you will be able to exchange your 1 BR unit for a 2 BR unit at these resorts but the lock-off only during flexchange (59 days prior to check-in), if they are available, I believe.

During flexchange some restrictions are relaxed and you may get the larger unit.

Actually, if you search manually online you can sometimes find larger units with smaller units. I've done this a few times using out studio Ocean Pointe unit. Next July we'll be staying at Mountain Valley Lodge in Breckenridge in a 1 bedroom unit using our studio unit from Ocean Pointe. I've also exchanged that studio unit for 2 bedroom units at Horizon's by Marriott in Branson outside of the Flexchange period. But those exchanges were done with manual online searches.

If you deposit your week and request an ongoing search, then you're correct. The largest unit size you can request is the size of the unit deposited unless the resort only has units that are larger than your deposit.

Thank you for your repsonses. I ususally just do the search manually and usually am looking for something inside 2 or 3 weeks. Would it be possible to see a 2 bedroom at the Lahaina Villas pop up and be able to secure it with the one bedroom deposti?

It would be an unlikely scenario; most Maui deposits are locked off before deposited. However, if the 2 bedroom Lahaina Villas unit was part of a 3 bedroom unit (i.e. something else happened with the studio side), yes, you could get it during flexchange with a studio or a 1 bedroom. It would act just like a Newport or Waiohai -- a non-divisible 2 bedroom. But this is unlikely.
