  • Palm Beach shores and Vacation Villas

Has anyone stayed here. Put in a search yesterday, really thought I would have to take April anywhere, but got a one bedroom for March 13. Looked at Tug reviews, while an overall 8.2, some terrible comments. I do want to see the Palm Beach area, so probably will accept the exchange, but just wondering.

I've been to this resort several times and always had a great time.. It's an older property, and the crowd is normally a little more lively than the Marriott Ocean Pointe next door.

If you require a pristine villa with marble and flat screens- you might want to keep searching.. If you simply want a comfortable resort on the water- it should be just fine!

The main thing to remember, is that the surrounding area suffers from a bad case of split personality.. Go a few blocks one direction and you'll find incredible mansions.. Go a few blocks in the other, and ---- well---- let's just say it's not quite as nice!

Finally, if you have time- be sure to visit Lion County Safari. If you have never been, it's a very unique experience!

We tend to eat onsite or at the little strip mall next door. It was torn down and was being rebuilt, and I think it' about halfway done.. Johnny Longboats (I think it's called) is reopened and has good seafood and bar-type eating.. There is also a little italian joint that has reopened and is fairly good.

There is a large mall not far down the road, plus we usually take a night to go to the local marina and eat dinner or take the boat downtown if there are any concerts or other events.

"the boat downtown" are you talking your own boat or is there boat transportation provided? Glad to hear there are a couple of restaurants closeby as it sounds like parking is a problem (if you leave) and not much of a kitchen if you want to cook (which i don't want to do).

Sorry for the confustion.. There is a water taxi at the Sailfish Marina that takes you downtown. On Thursday nights, they have free concerts. Mostly local bands but occassionally there will be bigger acts. I saw Vince Neil there with a concert promoting the opening of his local bar.

              Just stayed there

We stayed at this resort Christmas week. I actually thought the resort was charming. It is older but very well cared for. The pool is smallish (the bar there had great happy hour and other specials). There is a Restaurant.com certificate for the restaurant in the resort. Defintely worth using once.

I found staff to be nice. As others have mentioned, you must drive through a rather seedy neighborhood to get to the resort. Never felt unsafe at the resort. Only issue was that there were 2 fire alarms on different days in the middle of the night.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Too funny.. That happened to me too at around 8pm.. Someone in one of the villas caught their microwave on fire with some foil and so we all stood around in the parking lot for around an hour while the fire department cleared the building!

I guess at least we know the smoke alarms work!

We stayed at Indian River Planatation over Thanksgiving week. On Thanskiving Day the power went out for 3 or 4 hours. Then the fire alarm went off. Everyone evacuated the building and no manager was on duty to shut it off so we finally left to for a quieter location for the afternoon.

I got this for this March. I put in the request (ongoing search, about 30 resorts) on Wed and on Thursday morning RCI called. I asked for a one bedroom as i thought it would give us a better chance of getting something. I was surprised to get it for March, expected late April. Also surprised to get something so fast.

What is the name of the restaurant on the grounds with Restaurant.com?

Sorry.. Can't answer that one.. I can't remember ever eating inside- although the food at the pool bar is always good. The front desk P# is 561-863-4000.

There is also a cockatoo there who simply hates women! If a man goes over to the cage, the bird will literally press itself against the bars to be scratched.. If a lady comes over- there is a ruckus! It's always hilarious to see the facial expressions- the husbands always have a smug look as they walk away, drink in hand!

Sometimes it's the small pleasures in life that add all the flavor!

As stated Best Deals and Discounts on the Best Local Restaurants – Save Money on Food with Restaurant.com

has the restaurants in close proximity to the resort. Just type in the zip code of the resort. There is a coupon book called enjoy me that has some restaurant vouchers as well. Do a search for the book and it can be delivered to your house.

Cityplace is located on Okcachobbee interstate I 95 and is a must see. They have live music there near clematis on thursday. Many of the restaurant vouchers are near there.

I hate to tell you what came up when I googled enjoy me!

We are at the resort and enjoying it. We used the restaurant.com certificate and wish we had more. we also had lunch here twice. those two days we never left the resort. but the pool is too small and we have never been able to get a chair around the pool
never give in and go on the update. after 4 days of notes and calls we ageed to go because we were told it was not a sales presentation and we could leave at any time. what a lie all around. we had to go thru three closers, everyone we met had the same experience.

It's a Berkley sales presentation.. They normally sell Vacation Village at Parkway (with or without rci pts) and use Vacation Village at Bonaventure/Weston as a drop down product. The third guy will sometimes revert to Ft Lauderdale Beach Resort if he gets desperate.

I hope that didn't turn you off totally.. Have a great time for the rest of your stay!

Also, be aware that on the beach itself- a few of the vendors there also have their own niche side business selling resales.. You may also find yourself getting pitched Marriott Ocean Pointe resales when you go to rent an umbrella! (They've already called cooperating offices for inventory several times the past few weeks, so their spring break business must be picking up!)..

Be aware, the pricing they give you is normally marked up about $3,000 over market so they have some room for a primary closing and their own profit.
