  • new here ? about RCI week xchanges

this is sooo new to me...i literaly no CRAP about timeshare but willing to learn. and i know once i get the hang of it i will do great with it all so please help me!!!!

just bought timeshare (unexpectedly)....week 2 in Texas sooo how does this trading/exchanging thing work with RCI (yes member)?

Can i only exchange my week 2 for only week 2 elsewhere?

Tell me your thoughts about week 2....

please please please be honest with me and tell me if i did the wrong thing.

let me tell you that my family and i (4total) travel at least 2-3 times a year, a week to 2 weeks per vacation and many 3-4 day weekend get aways. My husband calls me a hotel snob cause i will stay in the best hotels/resorts.

He thought buying this timeshare will benefit us in the long run.

It very well may, but as you'll find out not all timeshares are created equal.

I've spent the better part of the last 6-9 months looking at the various timeshare systems, and only now am I even getting close to knowing what will be ideal for us.

    Good luck,

    Chris

You say you just bought it unexpectedly. Was this from a developer or a resale like eBay? If from a developer, can you still rescind?

Developer prices are MUCH higher than resale, especially on something like a week 2 in Texas. If you paid developer prices, then you should rescind if you still can, get your money back, and buy resale. You can find a nice red week somewhere on the resale market for what a week 2 in Texas would cost from a developer.

You are not restricted to the same week you own in trading with any exchange company I am familiar with. A week 2 in Texas, however, is probably not going to have the trading power to get some of the better weeks at RCI.

        Kinda like saying I just had a baby . . . unexpectedly.

        Google and read.

There's plenty out there and some folks are tired of my hashing and rehashing.

I replied to your other post. Like the others say - week 2 in the Silverleaf Resort between Austin and San Antonio is not going to get you a great exchange during spring breaks, summer, or holiday times. It is a nice resprt for people in Texas, but is not going to get you to a beach in season or mountains for ski season. If you still have children in school, your time is limited. Unless you have a points plan, you will be limited to a week at a time unless you choose to forfiet a few days. We are doing that in late April - only needed 3-4 days, but booked a week that was about to expire.

As to the question at hand, week 2 in Texas will absolutely not get squat through RCI, especially if it gets nailed as hard as all the good traders have gotten nailed recently.

My buddy had a deposit that saw 154K for 2009 that is seeing 100K for 2010. I have one that was formerly 165K-170K that is 108K for 2011.

The emphasis purportedly trying to approach apples for apples, so crappy deposits should get only crappy exchanges, although no one seems to be seeing many of the better exchanges any more, so it is not quite clear who is getting them.
