looking in RCI from 5/24 thru 9/30/06 and there is NOTHING out there that is of any interest for exchange.

Usually I see at least one ray of light in the pile of junk but not today.

Last year there were some good ones that showed up in Last Call at the last minute. It will be interesting to see if it happens again this year.

This morning for 2007 there were 54 resorts we do not want to stay at and for 2008 52 resorts we do not want to stay at.

Perhaps that should be a new category~~~Resorts You Do Not Want To Stay At.

Last call has really sucked since last Sept.. Last summer it was fantastic.. it was all the buzz on Tug.. Then of course RCI killed it and I havent seen anything worthwhile in a long time.

Deposits, Exchanges or Rentals?

It seems that it is like the chicken and the egg. Which came first? Do we not see anything to Exchange into because there are no deposits? Or are there no deposits because the are no good Exchanges available?

I have three week to Exchange now with RCI. One needs to be done before March 31, 2007. And I will have another 7 new weeks available to Space Bank in July. I’m sure going to look at what is available between now and July before I Space Bank any more weeks.

Just maybe, RCI needs to back off on the rentals first. They seem to be begging for deposits on their emails and the RCI web site. Do you think they are getting the message on Rentals yet?

And then there are the Resorts They Won't Let You Stay At

I matched a nice one this morning (Shearwater) but can't use it due to the 1-in-4 rule covering all PAHIO resorts. That's cruel!

Boy, you are right. I did a few quick look arounds this AM, a couple of Hawaii but not much.
Only did a few searches, only have dial up here on vacation, too painful to do a lot of searches. You get spoiled with having high speed all the time!!!!

I have been trying to ascertain why in my daily search for SW Florida for January I suddenly stopped seeing the better resorts (starting in 2006) that I had seen previously. I've had plenty of folks offering ideas.

I'm leaning toward the owners wised up and do not deposit them because that is the least value they can get for their weeks.

Could it be that more people are doing ongoing requests? How many resorts weeks are you talking about that you would expect to see? 1, 10, 100 in a one month period?

You would think that, BUT I have had an on-going request in for SW FL resorts for over 13 months ( the very day I could begin the search ) with a relatively strong trader and nothing. Obviously there are HGVC preferences in play as well but I would think I would see SOMETHING! So far only a studio has shown up for my dates during on-line searching and I need at minimum a 1 bedroom.

So I do tend to agree with Jim here. The weeks aren't being spacebanked for exchange. The owners are using them or renting them.

I would never deposit my summer Smugglers' week without trying to rent it first - the RCI exchange system has become so frustrating. Then I'd use the money to rent from someone else rather than hope hope hope that the exact resort on the exact dates that I want comes through on an RCI search.
