  • We just traded our last week - yikes

My RCI weeks era has come to an end but it was a great run. We traded into to some great places.

    Kona Hawaiian Village
    Kauai Beach Villas
    Waterside by Spinnaker, Hilton Head
    Sheraton Desert Oasis, Scottsdale, AZ
    Tamarack Beach Resort, Carlsbad, CA
    Morritt's Grand, Grand Cayman
    La Sammana, Brigantine, NJ
    Galleon, Key West
    Mauna Loa Village, Kona
    Outer Banks Beach Club, OBX
    HGVC Lagoon Tower, Honolulu
    Sheraton Broadway Plantation
    Maui Lea at Maui Hill
    Kaanapali Beach Club, Maui
    HGVC Grand Waikikian, Honolulu

I will miss being able to see what is out there on the weeks side but we are trying to morph into using where we own and using RCI points for last minute trips that can be reached by car.

With a little help from all of my timeshare friends, RCI weeks was a tremendous success for us. I would still recommend it for anyone who wants to go somewhere different every year. It helps if you know ahead of time that what you are buying really will get you to those different places but hopefully the upcoming transparency they have talked about will make that easier for newcomers.

Are u going to keep the membership account open until you go on the last exchange or are u going to close/cancel the account now?
I ask because I will be getting a free account with an ownership I am buying and I can deposit any odd week there if I like.
But I am hesitant to close my other account until I take the last trip Sept 2011....whatdayathink???

And yes, you certainly did get some nice exchanges over the years....as I have. But moving toward the model of owning where u want to go/self contained point systems is what I see in my future as well.

Since we own RCI points the weeks account will stay attached to my points membership forever, just no more deposits so nothing to search with.

I would leave that account open until you enjoy that last exchange. I don't trust them not to screw it up.

Generally you can't close your account while you still have an exchange pending. To do so also cancels the exchange. But perhaps you can get RCI (through the special number for your new account) to transfer the exchange into your new account for you.

It is worth a try, thanks.
