Aw, comeon Ken, were your accomodations when you got lost in Vietnam luxurious? Ok, I'd be pissed if I traded a Gold Crown for this without knowing....

So those diamonds I keep seeing in my spam folder came from Sweden, maybe I'll break and antenna on the next Volvo I see.

I know for you lefties, it's all about fairness, so I think you should also break a Saab antenna, or at least a feeler!

Back before my timesharing days and we were into camping, this resort would have been great!

I didn't know "Slimey Slough" had a sister resort in Sweden....

Yeah there are some real scarey resort photos that you come across when you are loading the database....

Wow, that phrase caught on, didn't it?

It came to me in my daily searches yeaterday morning. I've clicked Resorts on the Beach so many times, just to get a list of Resorts You Do Not Want To Stay At, that I imagined I saw it there with the other subareas.

But, you know, in all my studying and moaning and groaning, and bitching and whining, no one has been able to show me where the good stuff has gone.

                      Swiss Villa, Lampe, MO

                      A somewhat funny story.

Way, way back when, on one of our first exchanges, to the Kimberling Inn in Kimberling City, MO, we pulled out our Directory of Resorts (who else took one along on their first exchanges?). We wanted to drive around and look at all the magnificent resorts we were going to be having great vacations at.

The nearest one at that time was Swiss Villa, 6 miles south, and supposedly also on Table Rock Lake. When we got to it we saw the most gosh-awful hodgepodge of little A-frame shanties and rundown facilities, including a half-empty swimming pool with green water. YUCK.

We had heard of Swiss Villa for years, because there is an amphiteater there that was the site of many big-name concerts. After seeing it we swore we would never go back.

I wrote a letter to RCI, probably my first one, and in the next Wish Book Swiss Villa was gone.

Move forward to 8 1/2 years ago.

I placed an ad in the Branson paper looking for a house on the lake. I got a call from a lady, but we put her house on the back burner because you had to drive by Swiss Villa to get to it, and Jenny did not want to do that.

An agent took us around to a couple dozen houses on Friday and Saturday and we were going to meet her on Sunday at 10:00 to go look at our five best picks. We were up early and had an hour to kill so I made us go look at the house passed Swiss Villa.

That's where we live. (Swiss Villas has now been reorganized as Black Oak Mountain, but it is still not very nice. The A-frames are mostly low-income rental properties.

FWIW, if West Branson Bluffs is still in the Directory (I would not know since we have not received one since 2003) it is not much better.

I would not be mad at you - if you were mad of me -- if I was stupid enough to trade the Gold Crown for this resort -- that's not gonna happen.

As far as Vietnam goes, I would trade both of my weeks to return to that villiage.
