Week 52/2011 owners - get your week 53

If any of you own a Saturday check-in for week 52, in 2011 there is a
week 53. This happens every 5 or 6 years. I have been in contact
with my resort about getting week 53 (it is worth a lot of TPU!) and today I
noticed that the week is in my account. Best part - it was free for the
asking! That varies by resort, of course, but it is worth a phone call.

I Own a fractional 1/5 share, Friday checkins, They draw names and the lucky 1 of the 5 owners gets the week, this year 2010 was our week 53, I won the week, BUT....... They drew the names after Thanksgiving!!!! less than a month to use or get a flex deposit with II or a last minute deposit with RCI or any independent, they totally forgot about this week and screwed us over big time, Glad you got your week a year ahead!!

My resort requires an extra M/F for week 53.

I think that it varies by resort. I was amazed that my resort manager had no clue about 53 and what to do with it. He didn't even know about it. But once I explained, (I have been with his resort longer than he has) he was very helpful. But it took about a month to get it handled. If you are with RCI, depending on the TPU it may be worth the extra MF.

Yes, different resorts handle it differently. Most require a maintenance fee. Some offer it for rent to all owners.
