  • SFX Online Search Live

The online search tool at SFX is now live. I just got the email and am playing around.

Initial comments is that you can only search, at most, a range of 14 days around a specific date and as little as 3 days. Really don't like that.

Not really missing a lot right now. Only thing they seem to have is Mexico.

And I found a couple of major bugs - my newly refreshed 5 year platinum membership is now listed as gold and my $500 credit is gone. I hope they get it fixed by tomorrow.

There actually is quite a lot more than just Mexico. Keep in mind, you may not be seeing everything based on your trading power. There are filters that allow you to only see equal to, or less than your deposited week.

There already have been a significant weeks booked for a number of places outside of Mexico.

And also keep in mind, the online tool is not a replacement for the core booking process... it's just an enhancement tool. As with the major exchange companies, "Most exchanges are fulfilled with a request and search process", (not the online booking engine).

              Thanks,

This is exactly what I thought it would be which is why I have never been very excited about on-line searching. As Mark has said many times, all you are going to see are the left overs that nobody has submitted requests for. That is true for any exchange company.

One thing I noticed when I tried the on-line search using 2 different weeks from my same resort. Both weeks are prime summer weeks with one of them being a July 4th week. The July 4th week which is the top trading week showed a lot LESS availability then the other week.

John, did the July 4th week start in June? I know with RCI the June start date originally gave me a lower TPU until I called and they corrected it. The software was giving my deposit the same value as early June week.
                  Just a thought.

I just checked it and I made a mistake. It is a July 8th check-in, not a July 4th week. The other week is a July 15th check-in. I thought it was a July 4th week as that is what I usually have.

You would still think that a check-in date a week apart would have very similar trade power - except if one was a late deposit?
                      A mystery for sure.

Hi Pat... That certainly is an item that would impact trading power, and that is, how late was the unit deposited?

Two people could deposit the same week, unit size, resort etc. One deposited their week 9 months prior to the check-in day, and the other deposited theirs (for example) 4 months prior to the check-in day.

The person who deposited further in advance will have a higher trading power. And the reason for this is... it encourages people to book in advance, thus creating space for exchanges to be fulfilled.

Just think.... If everyone deposited their weeks around 30 days in advance, almost no one would get their exchange. And this is why it is so important for people to bank as far ahead as possible. This has always been one of the challenges of exchange business... constantly reminding people to bank their weeks as far in advance as possible.

                        Hope this helps...

                        Thanks,
