All but 3 - maybe 4 - of those on your list we wouldn't/couldn't have accepted as a good trade due mostly to the low season dates. We have required strictly high periods (school vacations/holidays - just like the vast majority of people) since 1995 until very recently. RCI/SFX delivered those resorts/units dates and II couldn't (despite many tries & many ways). If you are willing to take lesser resorts, smaller units and or less than prime dates they can come through as your list shows - but that isn't delivering like for like of what we give up & therefore expect in return. Getting a 1 bedroom for a two OR three or a mid-May date for a 4th of July deposit isn't a value trade!

So a lot of it is perception and what you feel is equal value. For us II failed miserably but if those worked for you that's great. I'd have rejected over 3/4 of those shown even ignoring the locations (which we also would not have wanted in most cases). YMMV.

I have found that I can get much better deals with the get-aways rather than exchanges. With DRI, I have a number of in-system resorts to choose from (though would appreciate more offerings in the mid-Atlantic/east coast area). Plus, I can still rent a get-away for half to one-third of my MFs.

As you've noted, it's all perception. Some like RCI, others don't. Some like I.I., others don't. When I sit down and really look at both companies, there's really very little difference between the two.

I asked about II points around the Interval International booth and received an awful lot of blank stares.. No upper mgmt were there at the time, so it may simply be too new for the reps that were manning the booth.. It was a very busy convention for me as I was representing three different companies and basically went from meeting to meeting, so I only made the one attempt.. Sorry I was not a more effective investigator in this instance!
