      adding more vacations to list

I just decided to go back to Aruba in January and stay at my week 4 at La Cabana that I was going to rent out.

I also have a pending request with II to add week 3 to my week 4 and may try to rent another week so that I can get out of the cold weather in NY for 3 weeks in January like this year. It seems that ever since I retired I just can't get enough vacation.

My job has flexible scheduling and, rather than sick leave and vacation time we have paid-time-off, which is one pool to cover all time off. So long as we're not sick a lot, we have plenty of time to take off. It helps that we've been with one employer for a long time, which maximizes our paid-time-off balances.

You also might take into consideration that, with so many points programs out there that will allow you to reserve less than a full week, it's possible to take several mini-vacations vs taking week long vacations every time.

Maybe not so bad after all. Not quite the distance or luxurious as some of you but over all not bad. Looks like I have some gaps to fill though!

Well, I can't compete with a lot of you as DH doesn't get much time off work but here goes.

Feb 2011: 2 weeks Grand Cayman (own weeks)
May/June 2011: Orlando Bonnet Creek - Wyndham points
Thru summer: Several 3/4 day weekend RV trips
Oct 2011: Hilton Head - RCI

Jan 2012: 2 weeks Grand Cayman
Summer 2012: somewhere with Wyndham points 4BR unit but can't get adult kids to agree on where we should take family trip. Several RV trips
Oct 2012: Samoset Resort Maine - RCI
Will still have Wyndham points left for either another trip or to rent out some weeks. Not sure what we'll do.

Weeks owners don't have the flexibility to take long weekends or midweek stays. Definitely include your less-than-a-week points trips to show the beauty of a points system!

My understanding is this thread is asking for just T/S vacations, so that is what I am including.

Jan- Feb 2011: 5 weeks in Puerto Vallarta; Villa del Mar, Villa del Palmar and Club Buganvilais
Mar 2011: Vacation Village at Weston, Weston, FL
Apr 2011: Sandy Point Beach Club, Tobago
May 2011: Swan Mountain resort, Dillon, CO
June 2011: Shadow Mountain Resort, Aspen, CO

That's it so far. We will be back in PV for 2012 but I have not planned beyond that. 2011 has been very busy with weddings and graduations.

I need to win the lottery!

I can't even come close to competing on vacations!
DH changed jobs early this year, so we canceled 2 planned vacations.

                      Feb. 2010 Hawaii
April 2010 Myrtle Beach (ended up sending some friends instead)
                      May 2010 Myrtle Beach
                      Oct. 2010 Wyndham Glacier Canyon

                      2011
Feb. Hilton Head with a friend - her Marriott TS
March. Bonnet Creek - Epcot getaway w SIL
                      May-June Branson (driveable)
July - Wisconsin Dells. 3 units via RCI

Haven't decided where the fall will take us. Watching SFX...

I always think of short stays as vacations. If I'm away from home, I'm on vacation. The problem for us is that most short stays are to Branson, MO. It's about the only drive to destination where we have the opportunity for short stays. I think we actually have 4 trips to Branson planned between now and the end of the year. No, we don't consider it the greatest vacation destination. It's just the only destination for short stays that doesn't take 10 hours to reach by car. We will occasinoally use Breckenridge for a short stay but, that's around 9 hours in the car and there's rarely any BIG sale on airfare to get us there.

In November, we went to South Korea for our son's wedding, but there are no timeshares close enough to Seoul, so we stayed with him during our visit.

We didn't stay in nearly as many timeshares, this winter, as we bought a mobile home in Florida, and stayed there for 7 of our 9 weeks in Florida. We did spend 2 weeks at Summer Bay in Orlando during February, when the kids and grandbabies came for a 2-week visit.

                          Upcoming trips include:

May 14-21- Grandview in Las Vegas
July 15-22- Carriage Hills in Ontario

November- 3 or 4 weeks in our Florida home

January, Februay, March in our Florida home, with a one week stay at the House of Summer Bay in February (again, when the kids and grandbabies come down for a visit).

We are looking now for something in California or Arizona for next May.

                          Ain't retirement grand?

Great responses here but zero over yonder on TUG

I don't get it !!! we are getting close to 30 responses here yet I posted this same thread on TUG and have had zero, zilch, nada in responses over there.

Maybe the folks over there have stopped traveling altogether.

                              How about 2012?

We have 5 weeks booked for Southern California for late Jan & Feb (Oxnard, Avila Beach, Palm Springs, San Clemente & Escondido).

A week in Scottsdale in March for baseball.

                              Glacier National Park in May

Mt Baker (Snowater Wa) in August

Santa Fe & Durango (Monument Valley) in Sept.

Hawaii in Nov/Dec: 2 weeks in Kauai and 2 weeks on the Big Island.

                              Ah.... vacations

I just added week 3 to my week 4 in Aruba thanks to a rental I got from Lawren. So I changed my II pending request to try and get an exchange prior to my check in date of my rental.

Hope to get 3 weeks in Aruba in January just like I did this past year and get out of the cold weather in NY.

So the answer to the other thread " Has timesharing run it's course" is still a big no for me as long as I can get these types of vacations.
