  • My deposits have disappeared from II!!!

Hi - I have not been doing the II thing for very long. A few months ago, I paid my 2012 dues and deposited my weeks into II.

After that, I made an instant exchange into Hyatt Wild Oak. It showed in my account as a confirmed reservation.

This morning, I go to do a search and NEITHER of my weeks are showing up as a deposit. AND my Hyatt Wild Oak is not showing either!

What is up? What do I need to do next?

    Call II.

That should be obvious rather than waiting for other people's opinions.

I immediately sent an email to II. I did not think about calling.

I am on hold with them right now. The phone message says to contact them online for immediate assistance. Given the time that I have been on hold and the amount of time that has passed since I emailed them, I do not believe that they have a good concept of "immediate assistance."

Chances are good that this is some random website screwup. (And, a longer-than-usual-hold-time supports that---you are probably not the only person calling in a panic.)

Stay on hold, and see what's what when you get to someone.

                Thanks, Brian.

I finally got transferred to the starwood desk and learned that starwood had cancelled my deposits.

As soon as I saw that this had happened, I also emailed mystarcentral to see what the problem was. I guess I will call them, also.

When they cancelled my deposit, they also cancelled my reservation with Hyatt Wild Oaks. So who refunds my exchange fee?

Now starwood is saying that they never really deposit under the new system. That II will simply call them and verify that I have the weeks to use. And that I can make my exchanges then. So, my II account will never show that I have weeks on deposit, because I don't.

No one could explain why I have three different "cancellations" on my II account. II says that my weeks have been cancelled. Starwood says that I never will have a deposit, they will just verify my weeks.

Starwood also says that the reason my Wild Oaks exchange got cancelled is because I did not have the weeks on deposit, yet. Which is true. Because my II account showed that I had 2011 "available," I thought that I had a deposit that I could exchange against.

                  How confusing is this!

I've had this happen in the past with DRI. What finally got things settled was to call I.I., explain what had happened and had them do a three way call with the management company (in my case DRI) to get things straightened out. By making a three way call, there wasn't any way there would be a misunderstanding.

Starwoods' new RCI/II policy sucks. There is no other way to put it

I am so sorry u lost your fabulous exchange. I just used my last two "traditional" deposits to get two 2 BR units at Harborside this fall and I dread having to deposit/exchange in II in the new system. I will give them one chance and if they mess it up, I will throw in the towel.

I already threw in the towel. II no longer gets my Starwood managed resorts for exchange. I'm going to drop II as soon as I use my last timeshare deposit (not a starwood.) I'm now using SFX & TPI exclusively for any exchanging. This new agreement between Starwood & II has lost me as a customer and I'm sure I'm not alone.

With all Starwood resorts that you trade with II, you have to "designate them for exchange" with Starwood before you can make an exchange. It doesn't matter what weeks it shows on II. You need to make sure you are clear with Starwood which units and which years you are designating for exchange. Starwood and II both get very confused when you have multiple Starwood units at the same resort.

Starwood will not let you designate a unit at SBP until you have paid that years (the one you want to exchange) MF's. Starwood makes you prepay the next years MF at SBP to make a reservation or to designate for exchange. I have found if I pay the next years MF and do not make a reservation, I still get an email within a week-"thank you for designating your 201x unit for exchange" If I decide to make a reservation later, I can cancel the exchange designation and reserve whatever is available in my season as long as I don't wait too long.

I have heard that you can get a way with exchanging with the generic placeholder in II (the one that is always there whether you have anything available or not) and then immediately calling Starwood and designating your unit for exchange before II contacts Starwood to verify.

If you did all the proper steps and everything still got cancelled, then you need to start complaining loud and long to both wood and II.

I decided to just let the exchange go. I wanted the exchange, Ian was not that interested. Now all I have to figure out is how to get my exchange fee refunded.

I realized that they also cancelled my on-going search - that was clearly made AFTER I had paid my MFs and deposited my weeks with II. The on-going search is not showing up either.

And when I tell my husband, his response is, "wait, wait, let's not get carried away here. Things always happen for a reason. Maybe we are not supposed to go to Curacao." This is the problem with being married to a mystic. Even if he is an engineer.

I may do something radical and actually make reservations at the resort and reserve my weeks. Maybe not. I would rather go to Curacao than to Myrtle Beach.

I wonder if SFX or TPI will accept SBP for deposit? I guess for those exchange companies, I get to actually deposit reserved weeks?
