  • DRI Club Select Exclusivity

I recently went to an DRI update and mentioned that i owned two non DRI timeshares and that i have enjoyed using the club select on one of them and was getting ready to deposit my Shell Kona timeshare into club select this year. The salesman told me that DRI is no longer able to accept into Club select Shell, Wydam, Hilton... since they were sent exclusivity notices by shell that they cant take them. I really want to get out of the shell and thought club select would be great but now that they SAY they wont take it i want to sell it. DRI offered a credit toward buying more points and they will take the timeshare and handle its sale or transfer. Its a plus since i end up saving maintenance fees and extra club fees although the price is not cheap as usual. I probably wouldnt do this if club select was accepting shell timeshares. Is this exclusivity real, do i believe them? I will try to call DRI tomorrow but i dont have much hope in getting to talk with someone who really knows the answer.

The only concern I'd have is, do they transfer the title out of your name at the time you sign the contract or, are they promising to sell your timeshare but it remains in your name until it's sold. If it's the later, you could end up with new points AND still have your Shell contract in your name for however long it take DRI to sell it, which could be forever.

I would be very specific that the only way I'd make that deal was if they transfered the deed out of your name now, any you had that in a written, enforcable contract.

I enjoy our DRI ownership and generally feel good about their sales staff but, when it comes to something like this, I want it in writing.

I will check, i think it stays in my name for a year then it transfers.

I am still wondering about the Club Select exclusivity. Not sure if its true or just a salesman scare tacktick. I am happy to consolidate into a primary timeshare company to avoid duplicate club costs etc. We have enjoyed DRI so far, i have a few issues with them but overall i have been able to get the weeks that i have wanted. just regretted buying that SVC timeshare.
