reviews on TUG are rating it low, reviews on RCI are good. Just pulled it for Sat check in, just the two of us, we are currently int he Berkshires. Anything I should know about, any words of encouragement or warning?

I stayed there a couple/few years ago. The unit is "railroad" style. Enter thru bedroom (which has no window) walk past bath thru kitchenette (no dishwasher or oven, 2 burner stovetop) and into living area. A good many units have a super view over the water and back at the bridge. No balcony.

I believe you have amenity use at the Wyndham next door for pools etc.

It is clean but not much to write home about. Well located.

I also stayed there around the same time as Lawren. The water view from the living room (many units though not all) makes up for the lack of the window in the bedroom. In season there is a noisy bar/club outside but should be quiet by now. Location right in town can't be beat, I would keep it.

Living area is small, this would be a tight squeeze for four but fine for two.

but the living room and bedroom are only ten feet apart.
this is a dumpy unit, very old furniture, looks like the 50's, the bed doesn't look comforatable, guess we will make do.
dropped my daughter and family off at Logan Airport, never want to drive in boston again.

              c'mon at least 12 feet.

Said nothing to write home about. How is the view from the living room? Do go t0 the common room. Do go to the roof.

we are enjoying Newport a lot. weather has been cool, windy, and sometimes rainy, but today was beautiful. We drove to Portmouth for the Topiary gardens, and also the tour of the "cottage' at 11. that was great. then we hurried back for the Haror boat tour (first nice day). It was really good. i would recommend Amazing Grace tour. Then we drove to Fort Adams and did the guided tour of the fort. Way more than I expected. We even went through some of the tunnels with flashlights. then we had dinner at Sardellos, two for $16 dinners or two for $28 with a bottle of wine. We have done the Ocean drive twice and toured 5 mansions and one behind the scenes tour. Plan to do two tomorrow and the cliff walk if it doesn't rain. Might do the tour of Rough Point on Friday. We bought a membership, it ended up costing $60 total for both of us with discounts and was well worth it.

Pat, so glad u are enjoying yourself.
Not sure how long you are staying but you are not far from Mystic Seaport which can be an interesting way to spend a day.

Enjoy the rest of your stay.

I'm glad you have a nice view and are enjoying your week. Surprised about the unit condition, I thought all units were refurb'd about 6 or 7 yrs ago and I thought Wyndham was supposed to be doing a decent job. Be sure to submit reviews

I think the furniture has kind of a retro look, blond, sharp lines. the bed is a very thin mattress and box spring, low to the ground. with the bedspread, it reminds me of a period of time from my youth. there are a lot of pluses, the view, a paper outside your door every morning. someone on duty 24 hurs, coffee and tea in the lobby. but the air/heat is a blower like a motel room, it doesn't seem to circulate to the bedroom and it blows right on you if you sit at the table. The bedroom, with the outer door opening right at the foot of the bed, the hallways, the blower, give the impression of an older look, but after further review it is okay.
we have been on the road 4 weeks, and i would like to see two homes on Saturday, but my husband wants to get going, so it will be on the way to my mom's, and then back to Wisconsin, to start closing up and going to Florida.
We have visited Presque Isle, the finger lakes, Boston, then a week on Cape cod, weekend in Tenafly for a wedding, then the Berkshires, and now Newport. All visited out. (we did see Mystic Seaport in 1985, our last trip East, and the last year the entire family was together til this Sept. wedding.)
