  • Exchange request history

I am wondering if I am missing something, but do the exchange companies like SFX, DAE keep a running list of requests I make? When I login to my accounts, nowhere do I see a list of current exchanges that I am looking for, so wondering if this is something that should be kept track of myself? If I were to call them, would they know what resorts in what areas and periods I am looking?

For example, it does not look like I will be able to get two weeks at a resort in Calabogie, so we are probably going to rent a cottage instead. Now we are looking at some other possibilities to request for the exchange companies. I do not want to overwhelm them with a whole bunch though, and figure keeping track of what I have requested where is probably a good idea. I do not see an easy way to "cancel" existing requests. With DAE I know there was e-mail saying they had "entered it into their database" but not really sure what that means. If nobody is actively looking, just concerned that it is sitting there on a back burner, with nothing be done on it.

Not sure how the alternate exchange companies show your exchanges. I know I did do a rental once with DAE and I got an email but the resort never did, so I had to have DAE fax over to Westgate the confirmation during Westgates business hours. Honestly it was quite the production as Westgate had never heard of DAE.

In the end I was able to use my $79 week at Westgate but make sure that you follow thru with the resort on any exchanges to make sure that they have heard of DAE and have you on record as exchanging in.

Have you tried Platinum Interchange? They are free to join and list Calabogie Peaks as one of their resorts. I believe they have access to more than just their online inventory and they do specials like 2 weeks for your deposits if you give them ahead of time.

    From their website:
"If the week, resort or suite size you are searching for is not on our List, please contact a Vacation Counselor and ask for a special request."

Tradingplaces.com also shows Calabogie on their list of resorts and they are also free to join. I'm sure they might work with you. Certainly worth a call.
Sometimes you can get lucky with the alternates since you don't have as much competition for some areas.

On SFX there is a way to look at your request. It does not show you what deposit u used by name but it has a number associated with it and tells u what u have requested.
You can edit it oline but it tells u that u will lose your place so i always call to tweak a request
And are u requesting for next summer with them?it seems a bit early to give up and rent a cottage.
If it is for Christmas then yeah, maybe u need to rent.

Hi Gandalf - Thank you for your post.

Please login to your SFX account. On the left hand side, there is a "Exchange Requests" button. This will show you all of your current pending requests that you have a search for. This also allows you to add alternative locations and dates as well.

Also... further up is a "Account Summary" button. Then click "Deposit & Bonus week credits". You can also place requests in this screen as well, and you can see against which deposit you are placing the request against.

        Hope this helps...

        Thanks,

          Thanks Mark,

Ironically, I found this just after I made the post. One of the reasons I like your site. Here's hoping I get one of the requests I'm looking for. I am going to be posting some more alternatives soon.

It depends on what your are changing. Some changes will not change your place in line whereas some will.
