I would definitely try SFX. We have exchanged into New York City 3 times with SFX in the last 3 years. The first time was at the Manhattan Club, the second time was at HGVC West 57Th Street and this June we exchanged into the Hilton Vacation Club on Avenue of the Americas ( 6th Avenue ).

We far prefer the Hilton Club on 6th Avenue. It has a better location though they all are within 3 or 4 blocks of each other. The Hilton Club has free breakfast every morning and their service is incredible.

One big advantage with SFX apart from no 1 in 4 rules is we didn't have to pay any resort fees at any of the NYC timeshares and we had daily housekeeping.

I am not sure if SFX or any exchange company will allow back to back weeks for NYC.

The OP is looking for simultaneous weeks, not back to back.

Sydney you could also join Groupon for NYC and keep an eye out for hotel deals.

Well, if I kept one of the RCI MCs, I'd only need 1 more unit through SFX but availability at that time of year would be next to impossible.

SFX would be a better deal for MC in any event, because the exchange fee is cheaper, it does not include the "hospitality" fee, *and* there is no 1-in-4.
After I booked a week at MC and went back in to take a look for a second week, It gave me the message that I COULD book the same or the week before and after but all the other weeks there could not be book....because this resort has a one in 3, 4 or 5 rule, blah, blah, blah.

So this is why Syd COULD book two units online, I could have booked two as well.

Hello RCI, you need to fix this 'glitch' if it is not so

Sydney, I am positive that I read here that back to back weeks or two units for the same week would not violate the 1 in 4 rule. RCI claims that this is a MC rule so I would try calling them directly.

Also, JWC is correct about SFX. If RCI doesn't budge you can book a hotel just in case (I have stayed at Radio City Apartments > About The hotel) but try to get something through SFX. I've gotten MC the past two summers with them.

We stayed for 5 nights at the Michelangelo Hotel on 51st and 7th Avenue. It is an upscale hotel and is very nice. I don't know what price range you are looking for. We were able to get a rate 50% off. They upgraded us to a suite for free. We picked it based on the very positive reviews on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. Service was great and their rooms are larger than normal for NYC.

SFX specializes in high season weeks, so you could give them a try. You could contact Mark on the "ask SFX" forum and see what he thinks about MC at the time of year you want to go.

We have always gone during the summer which is definitely the high season. I imagine that New Years and Thanksgiving are pretty high weeks as well. We would love to go for Thanksgiving and New Years but there is absolutely no way that we could take the weather at that time of the year. We are warm weather folks.

Thanksgiving through New Year's are undoubtedly higher demand in general, though perhaps summer is higher demand in timeshareworld. Holiday time in the city is legendary worldwide. NYC can get miserable hot in the summer and many locals head for the beach or mountains - it is not the best time to visit imo, though there is never a bad time to visit

For us the summer is the best. We have no schedules to adhere to but weather is a very important factor and we like the summers. To us it isn't that hot and we have been there in June, July, and August. Fifth Avenue is packed and Times Square has so many people, you can't move in the summer. The only thing we don't like is when it rains.

I personally dislike the cold but not as much as the heat. Plus, we have no choice with time of year to visit as our Summer holidays (when our kids have extended time off school) in Dec/Jan happen to be your Winter.
