  • Exchanging into Aruba

I'm wondering when I might expect to see inventory in Aruba for late Jan / early Feb 2013? I believe that II has the largest presence there of the various exchange companies so probably best to start there. Anyone else of the independents? I know RCI doesn't have much there.

I'm not familiar with the area so only think of the Marriotts but there's got to be other worthwhile resorts.

Gord La Cabana is entirely refurbished. Touch base and let me know if we can help. BG is 11 months out

Do you want to stay in the highrise (more densely populated, more "action") or lowrise section?

I loved Casa Del Mar in the lowrise section - have seen that on RCI. Stay away from the 1 bedrooms.

Costa Linda and Aruba Beach Club next door are also nice. Also RCI.

We are going back in March, staying at Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach - this was the best location we saw last time for our needs - traveling with young men/older teens and little kids. Also really well located on the island, very central, the last in the highrise section before the lowrise section starts.

We have a number of members here who love the Marriott.

One of the independents gets a lot of Paradise Beach Villas - check the sightings. That property is well located though I haven't seen the rooms - it's near La Cabana across the road from the beach. La Cabana is getting refurbed and has good reviews from members here too.

Others have mentioned some good choices in the low-rise section. In the high-rise section, besides the Marriott's, I really like the Playa Linda Beach Resort. It has a nice beach location, and is in walking distance to many shops & restaurants/bars. Also, the Royal Palm Club at the RIU Palace Aruba is worth considering. All inclusive is an option at RIU.

In II, you would need to put in a request. It's hard to get anything outside of the 59 day window for that time frame.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

FYI All rooms have already been refurbished at LaCabana I am currently at Lacabana and I am also an owner. Beach across small road is fantastic and one of the best in Aruba IMHO. They did a very nice job on renovation of rooms and resort looks great. Not the Marriott type of reno but still very nice, but also not like the Marriott you get daily maid service here so you always come back from beach to a very nice clean room.

Also this resort is great fun with live band playing almost every afternoon from 5-7 PM during happy hour. Gotta go now for more fun in Aruba
