There are candid (taken by owners) resort photos on WM Owners. The SF album has pics of a special needs studio-it's probably very much like what your kids will have.
The pics helped a lot. It looks fine. I just grabbed a few nights while it is still on Monday Madness. Too bad we can't book shorter than a week over 90 days out. I'd have booked a few more.

I stayed at the Wyndham Canterbury in SF this summer for 4 nights in a 1 bedroom. This property takes a lot of Wyn points over the weekend. By staying Sunday -Thursday it cost a reasonable amount of points. There were three of us, myself, my sister and my teenaged daughter. We were all quite comfortable. There are laundry facilities every other floor. The location was great: walking distance to both Union Square and cable cars (just a few blocks) and Chinatown (a bit farther walk).

We did not have a car and wouldn't recommend having one due to the cost of parking. We took a cab from the airport and then Bart out of the city to meet someone in the east bay. Very easy to get around without a car.

I made this reservation about 6 months out. We are Wyn points owners and find it very flexible. We can spend a week or just a few days whatever works best for us.

Mark, do you take studios from WM SF for deposits? What about the rooms WM lists as hotel style? It's all confusing to me as I tend to think of Timeshares as being little apartments.

StressCadet, you make WM SF sound very nice. Do you remember which room category you had? It seems like when I look, they always have "less desirable location" available and that just sounds gross. Whether it is gross or not, I don't know.
Properties that have one bedroom units are; Nob Hill Inn, Suites at Fisherman's Wharf, Wyndham Canterbury Place, Worldmark, Powell Place and SF Suites. They are all very good locations.

....Are any of the systems easier to do several short stays vs one week stays (other than WM)?....

I don't have any factual information regarding easier or not. However... most people buy SF timeshares to use rather than trade, and most of them live 30 minutes to 4 hours driving distance, and use their property on a daily basis like a hotel. Typically come in for the shopping, dining, theatre, opera, ballet or just a good old time. It is more difficult to get a Thursday, Friday and Saturday booking than the rest of the week.

SF has such a high demand we do accept hotel/studio units, and they will trade for a 1BR suite.

          Hope this helps...

Its tricky because I'm an RCI points member and if I understood correctly RCI would only give me 24,000 points for depositing the Donatello week which seems way low.

I'm going to check out the WM mentioned - we'd much rather something with a lot of character.

Although the Donatello looks nice with a kid in tow we need the extra bedroom.

If I buy a unit there is it easy to deposit with SFX and get good trades on the east coast &/or europe?

            Thanks for all the info!!!

It is easy to deposit with SFX and get more benefits and pay overall lower costs than other exchange companies. With regards to "is it easy to deposit with SFX and get good trades on the east coast &/or europe?"

That all depends on what time of the year you want to go... How far in advance you place your request... and how flexible you are. If you want to go during the Summer, there is the least availability with all exchange companies. If you can travel outside of Summer, there are greater possibilities. There are no real constants with availability, other than, like an airline seat or a hotel room, availability is constantly changing.

            Hope this helps,

                .
I own at Powell Place and Suites at Fisherman's Wharf (SFW). If you own, you can split your time to do short stays at both places. With careful planning and luck, you can end up with two weekends at Powell Place. However, SFW allows you only one weekend stay. I don't know which resorts in San Francisco has two bedroom units, but SFW only has three units that are two bedroom.
