A co-worker wants to go to Marco Island this new year's. I don't normally search that area although I know others here do. So what's the likelilhood of finding something at this stage. All exchange companies, both internal/external/direct are considerations. I know HGVC has a couple resorts there but I don't think you can search online for that area?

I've seen some, but not on a regular basis, and not that often. A while back, there was bulk deposit of Bayfront Inn on Fifth (BIF) but thats in Naples.
I do see some more frequently in getaways tho, if that would help.
Marriott & Hyatt don't show up too often for that time period......I think out of them all, I probably see Eagles's Nest the most often.Angela

As we have been reporting, about the only thing ever available through RCI any more is the very-lowly-rate-nowhere-near-the-beach MR&C. That is very near Snowbird Season and they want a hefty premium for it.
The desirable resorts would, in fact, be the HGVCs . . . Eagles' Nest, Club Regency, Surf Club, Charter Club
The last time I saw something decent in that timeframe was probably 2004. To elaborate, I have been studying this specific area for more than 10 years (15 now) and have been trying to determine why the decline in RCI deposits since I first noted the decline, 2004 searching for January 2006.
As the HGVC resorts are the best RCI resorts throughout SW FL, my attempts have focused on them. I used to see all of them occasionally in my daily searches, and we have exchanged into some of them.
I have communicated with HGVC owners, used an HGVC owner's access to HGVC, communicated with SW FL resort owners in person and via the Internet, spoken to management at various resorts in SW FL, and even started a hopeful-appearing dialogue with the manager of Seawatch on the Beach. That ended when she deferred our discussion up to higher HGVC management, who never responded.
Although no one official has been willing to offer up anything official, the accumulation of evidence is that owners of timeshares in SW FL have found better things to do with their weeks than to bank them with RCI.

I see I have not said it, but I have been watching SW FL for the same week, to go with the next week. I have seen stuff in NGC [11 Resorts (13 available units) ], but nothing worth the price in SGC.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured it would be slim pickins' for exchange. Any HGVC inventory doesn't show up online on the HGVC website because those resorts are all affiliates so I'll have to give them a call but it's always a crapshoot on the validity of the info you get over the phone. I figured something like VRBO would probably be the next option.Comment

When I borrowed someone else's HGVC affiliation to search, I could occasionally see January stuff. DAE has a few Marriott hotel rentals for that time period.
It's got a great location but it's not a timeshare.

A guy-at-our-golf-course's wife went to M.I. to sell Marriott TS a couple years ago, and he joined her there. Reports have always been that she was doing well . . . hefty 6-figure well.
Maybe you could buy something from her.
