Since overstocked inventory is often discounted to 4-6, just think what you can do with 63!

Now, the proof in the pudding is to get what you want, when you want it, meaning that someone actually deposited it, and it didn't get rented to the public.

If you want go to places like Williamsburg . . . meaning Orlando, Branson, etc., you should be OK.

      60 is low 60's.

Anyone ever play with The Manhattan Club in the Deposit Calculator? Interesting.

By what you gave me.....it does appear that if I split off these weeks I would get more TPUs. 63 for a 1 BR and 2 BR deposit and only 39 for the 3BR.

How did you check these numbers? I guess that is my question. Once I have an RCI account established, is this something I can do online? Also are these numbers using a Kings Creek unit?
My biggest concern with RCI in your case is bulk space banking. A lot of the RCI floating week resorts will NOT allow you to reserve your week if you are going to deposit it with RCI. Instead they deposit a block of weeks with RCI that lessens your trading power.

You may want to consider SFX where you can exchange into both II and RCI resorts and don't have all the restrictions.

          The OP wants Disney.
          RCI does Disney.
I have never in all the years I have watched, seen Kings Creek bulk spacebank.
Besides the fact that the OP can now check exactly what RCI is willing to give them for their exact deposit. Sort of a moot point.

I don't see anywhere that the OP wants Disney. I wasn't saying that Kings Creek does bulk space banking. I was just saying that a lot of RCI resorts do so check to make sure that they don't. Both resorts that I owned at are dual affiliated RCI/II do bulk space banking. Whenever I reserve my week, they always ask if I am depositing it to RCI. When I tell them I am depositing it to SFX then they say no problem and I can get what I want.

What I have for deposit. 3 bedroom lockoff at Kings Creek Williamsburg - float. In the past, I have always broken this into 1BR and 2BR and deposited both with II and received AC's for each. It has been a great thing at II. But, my II account has 2 weeks in it for use and 2 ACs already so why not give this a try.

What I know about RCI (please correct if I'm wrong) - I will deposit something, they will give me a TPUs and then I go searching or put in a request for their inventory. Example: if they give me 30 TPUs - I can get 2 15 TPU weeks or spend the entire 30 on one week. Left over TPUs I assume just roll over to the next deposit....but probably have an expiration.

My question. Since I have a float. How to I know what will give me the most TPUs? Does depositing a 1BR and 2BR give me more than a 3BR deposit? Does RCI have a demand grid similar to II that I can use to determine what is the best week to reserve and deposit?

              Thanks All.

Also, if anyone owns at Kings Creek and has weeks on deposit with RCI, I would be interested to know how many TPUs you received for a particular deposit.

How many years has it been since you paid any attention to RCI?

Neither Gaslamp Plaza or San Luis Bay Inn bulkbank any longer with RCI. They haven't in years. A few of the original Ivys do still. My remaining ownership does. One reason that I use it exclusively within the PSE mini-system. It is worth bubkes with RCI.

ETA:I have in the past bullied PSE into giving me the exact week I wanted deposited

I missed the Disney thing so my mistake. Gaslamp Plaza Suites was never a PSE resort. They have always been a VRI resort. We have owned there since the day they opened the resort. We sold our San Luis Bay Inn a few years ago. I never had any trouble with reserving the exact week we wanted at SLBI until Wyndham took over the management. We bought at SLBI a year before the resort was opened. Wyndham was one of the reasons I decided to sell SLBI. I did like the PSE system and stayed at some of the other PSE resorts.

It has nothing to do with me paying attention to RCI. Whenever I called VRI to reserve my week at Gaslamp, they asked if I am depositing with RCI. I asked why and they said because you can't reserve a week if you are.

Well, I have to stand corrected. I just called VRI a few minutes ago to reserve the July 4th, 2014 week which I got. I asked them about the bulk space banking. They have changed their policy. They still do bulk space banking but they now allow you to reserve the week you want even if you deposit it to RCI. The reason for the bulk spacebanking is for people that can't reserve a week for one reason or another but want to exchange with RCI.

Hello All - just an update from the OP.

I opened my RCI account this morning - painless and quick process. Within an hour I was ready to go. Couldn't find the deposit calculator - but a call into the New Member line and then to tech it's all straightened out. (the guy that helped me from the tech deposit was awesome, after he fixed the glitch he showed me how to navigate the website and offered advice on how to make the most TPUs....all without asking)

I did learn from RCI welcome wagon that Kings Creek would not let me deposit the weeks with RCI. They want to do it. I'm not too worried about bulk banking because in the past I have always reserved the weeks I wanted and they deposited for II for me - no glitch. But, I will need to confirm that tomorrow when I call KCP to book and deposit the weeks.

The only aggrivating thing is being a float - I don't know the unit number. That is a royal pain having to click thru all of the units to find what I am looking for!

Week 27 2013 looks like the winner. (which BTW - week 27 next year is actually the week AFTER the 4th) I tried 26, to get it to land on the week of the 4th but TPUs were lower. Makes me wonder if there will be some lower cost July 4th weeks out there because technically you will be booking week 26???

Ok - a couple thoughts after reading the recent posts...It appears I will get 28 and 35 TPUs for the deposits.

Please correct anything I have wrong here:
At this point I can keep them as separate deposits. If I find a resort I like and I know/estimate the cost is 25 TPUs I can put in an ongoing search with 1 and then manually search with the other. But, if I do this and while manually searching with the other I find something that is 45 TPUs, then I have to go through the process of combining before I can grab that 45 TPU week. Keeping my fingers crossed that while I spend the time to combine...the week I want doesn't get taken. What is this combination process like? Can I do quickly online or do I need to wait until RCI opens and have them do?

If I combine the weeks now - that makes for a nice account to play around with....try to catch some last minute things, search for the future ect. The downfall is if I combine and put in an Ongoing Search and then find something else I want in addition to the OG search then my original search will get cancelled. I get the "other" week.....but I need to put my OG search in again. I assume RCI is like II - the earlier the search is put in the better. So.....if I have a search out there for months and am possibily on the top of the list to get it - I have to start over again. Correct?

I am a bit more of a searcher (like the thrill of the hunt!) than someone that puts in a request. I will spend some more time in the exchange ops to see what may interest me and how much TPUs it will cost.

To clarify the confusion....yes, DVC is something I want (but not in the parks....at Vero Beach). Do they still deposit about 11 months out?

We typically exchange into Orlando and New Hampshire. I'll let my II account handle Orlando (I like the Marriotts) and I am VERY happy to find that my favorite New England Resort is showing inventory in RCI. (Innseason South Mountain - Lincoln, NH). Since the change to BG....the II deposits have been slim to none.

Thanks again all for your RCI knowledge!

Wacky Mother - have a safe trip home.

Just a comment about combining deposits - it takes about two minutes - since everything is already deposited in your account - you just pay the fee and it is done, so really no lag time.

You combine the units online. Very quick and painless. One caveat about combining is that it can either shorten or lengthen the life of your deposits. Since you are depositing July 2013 weeks, they are good until July 2015. When you combine deposits, your amalgamated deposit is good for 2 years from the date of the combination - so if you deposit your weeks and combine right away, then your combined deposit of 63 TPUs expires July 2014. The reverse is also true if your original deposit was about to expire and you combined it with another one, then you'd have a 2 year extension.

If you don't need to combine, I wouldn't until you have to.

I called KCP today to book my weeks. I was able to get week 27 for the 1BR - but no go on the 2BR. Looks like Thanksgiving week will pull in the next highest TPU - but I wasn't prepared to give a second choice so I still need to go back and make the 2BR ressie. All appears to be fine and I will be able to book what I reserved with II.

Next years weeks are really messed up. July 4th and Thanksgiving week are both giving highest TPUs for stuff starting AFTER tha holiday! I'm still thinking some holiday weeks will cost less in 2013 because of this.

Good to know......about the life of deposits. Thanks for that info. I think I am going to keep them separate for now and only combine if I find something for higher TPUs than I need.
