DVC Disney Points

Hi All,
Someone gave me a link from the Disney timeshare board to this page.
I was wondering if I could trade DVC points directly on this page or would I have to transfer my DVC points into the RCI system first?

Are you talking about trading something with owners in another resort or you want an RCI exchange?

You need to call Member services to do an RCI exchange.
If you want to just transfer your DVC points to someone in exchange for an RCI exchange then that would need to be done privately.
I've done a few direct exchanges on Mouseowners and here with some of the members here.

What are you trying to accomplish? Where do you want to go? You may want to just rent your DVC points and rent what you want from RCI's public rental sites like endless vacations or resortcerts, skyauction etc.

I don't have any specific plans at this time, but was thinking of visiting Asia or the Caribbean area after next year. Right now we only have a DVC resale, so are limited to the Disney resorts. On the DIS board, someone was asking something similar and others made it sound like there was a way to trade the DVC points for another person's RCI points. I just wanted to clarify if that entailed following the DVC-RCI exchange through member services or if it was a different process.

Right now, I think it would be easiest/safest to just rent out the points and use the cash for our vacations.

Honestly, doing and exchange thru RCI is always a gamble as another owner has to deposit exactly what you want and when you want to go.

As Chris said, many people do private direct exchanges , you book a SSR 1BR for 7 days for me and I book a Marriott Aruba 1br for you in order to do that, you need to know someone who owns what you want and wants what you own!

You are probably right that by renting your points, you can get exactly what you want.
Try redweek.com to rent timeshares directly from other owners.

This is not true. Resale DVC accounts *can* be used for RCI exchanges. The only things that they cannot be used for are: Disney cruises, Adventures By Disney guided tours, and non-DVC but Disney-owned hotels. But, even so, renting your points out and using the cash to book what you want is more flexible, and probably a better deal than exchanging through RCI.

This thread is two years old and the OP only has 2 posts. There are boards where DVC owners rent their points out. Do a google search or post a new thread and ask that question

Good info to know if I ever need to do a trade
