  • Anyone have any thoughts on exchanging through DAE?

New to the TS exchange game, had a TS years ago with Marriott and always used their exchange service. I have been reading the horror stories involving RCI devaluing resorts and possibly the same actions with II. I have prime float weeks at Vistana Beach Resort and want to be able to get the best bang for my "buck", thats what I paid for it. I have joined SFX and DAE and will probably join II if it will work to my benefit. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

With DAE, they have a request first system. Let them know what you have to deposit and what you want to trade for. When they come up with what you want, then you can deposit and pay the exchange fee.

I have been quite satisfied with both SFX and DAE. Not so, RCI.

With Starwood you will do best in II with the Starwood to Starwood preference.
This place is too expensive to give to DAE in my opinion. They have way too many low star resorts.
Might be worth using SFX if they have any place you want to go, but their offerings are quite limited.

Where are you thinking you want to exchange to? That will make a difference who you should give this week to.

You might want to go to the Ask SFX and Ask DAE boards to inquire if they get much inventory in the areas you want to exchange into.

Members report fairly good NYC availibility at SFX, and I know from my own experience in addition to reading others that they are good for getting London. SFX is better on gettting London than either RCI or II.

I have had some high quality trades with DAE like Stouts Hill 2BR and Smugglers Notch 3BR.

And with DAE, you can do a request first without making a deposit, then deposit and pay your exchange fee after they find an exchange you want. SFX will do that, too, but with the free membership there is a limit on how far in advance you can put your request in. Still, request first worked to get my London 2BR exchange at SFX with the free membership.

We were looking for something in Myrtle Beach this summer. I may try an even exchange with another owner on Redweek. I will probably book the Easter Break week at Vistana. Starwood has the Sheraton in MB but it is not ocean front and in a very heavry traffic area. Would like to get something in NMB or down by Pawley's Island. Next year we will trade to go see the Mouse, then I would use Starwood for Vistana Villages or resort.
