  • How to get Cancun exchange Thanksgiving week???

    Hi,
I would like to exchange with II for a great Cancun resort on Thanksgiving week. I've been randomly checking the webside and see weeks around it but not that week. It may be that my deposit is not strong enough to pull it. Would a ongoing search do better?
I would love one of the Royals or the Grand Mayan.

Anyone have any ideas or helpful hints on how to get it. If you know of other great resorts in Cancun area or other ways of getting the week inexpensively, please advise.
If you would rather not post publicly please email me directly.

    Thanks.

    Barbara,

I search II everyday and have only seen a few Thanksgiving dates for nicer resort in Cancun. There were some showing up a few months ago, but I haven't seen any in a while.

I am not sure if RCI, SFX, or another trading company would do any better. Maybe someone familiar with the other exchange companies will answer.

Perhaps you would do better looking for a rental.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

You should definitely put in an ongoing search. If a week becomes available, it will go to match an ongoing request before showing up online. Also, I responded to your PM, not sure if you got it.

        Barbara,

If you would put a "be on the Lookout for" post on the Interval Exchange Opportunities Board we will keep an eye on it for you.

I would bet money that more of the Royals will show up, particularly in flexchange period.

A few years ago I became dramatically aware that Thanksgiving was becoming a tough trade. Airfare isn't reasonable then either. I guess a lot of folks pull the kids out for the 3 days that week. ( I know we did during elementary years.)

Keep in mind that the Mayan Palace or Grand Mayan are quite a bit south of Cancun. Thanksgiving is a popular week and probably is used more generally by owners, leading to fewer deposits. I wouldn't give up on an exchange yet though as many Royal deposits come 90 days or less before the week of occupancy as that is when the annual fee bill arrives-sparking a decision as to whether to deposit or not.

            Thanks!

Thanks everyone, I put an ongoing request with II. I hope I get it for our first trip to Cancun.
Lawren, I will also request a sighting, thanks for the suggestion.

I have another question: do all the Royal resorts check in only on Saturday?

Also, how hard/expensive is it to rent extra days if we can get better flight prices during weekdays.

            Thanks again.

Yes the Royals are all Saturday check-in (not so sur about the Royal Haciendas( tho). Extra days are not too hard to rent, but they are also not cheap. Best bet for extra days may be thru the resort group or Vacation Rentals.

Dial an Exchange has some Mexico weeks in November -- I don't know if it's anything you're looking for.

Debi, Do you know if any have a check-in date of Nov.18,2006?
I never used Dial an Exchange, but would consider it if they had a good exchange.

Debi, I did join DAE and checked the site, they had one for Nov. 18 but I already put the ongoing search inwith II.
Thanks for suggesting them, and I may exchange with them in the future.
