  • Speaking of the Canary Islands

I have an exchange into Stout's Hill England Gloucestershire for August 2007.
I'd like to add a week before in either Spain, Portugal or the Canaries but the only week I will have to trade with for it will be my Palm Desert low season studio. So I'm thinking Canaries.

I've been debating about giving RCI ANY of my weeks but I think this may be do-able ( MY EXCHANGE SPIDEY SENSE IS "TINGLING") and my membership expires in Mar08 so I'm still OK on that end. Canary Islands are all over Last Call right now but just southern tenerife.

I see this and a few others with my summer Cape Cod:

    Anfi Beach Club (#3081)
    Barranco de la Verga
    Arguineguin , 35120 Canary Islands
    928-150798
    www.anfi.com

Unit Options Select Unit Type Max Occ/Privacy Kitchen Check-in Date Check-out Date
    1 Bedroom 4 / 4 Full 08/18/2007 08/25/2007
    :

Which of these islands has the nicest beaches? I know Anfi has a good reputation Do any of you think I can find a one bedroom for 8/17/07 with this week to trade?

Ken I really appreciate the assist on this one! DBR is deposit 13 months ahead so I have a couple of weeks to decide. I've been real lucky with this "red " week, that trades like a SA, in the past.

I'd be happy to see what a white week will pull. Then I can decide whether to mail the MF fee and deposit the week. Aim to start the on-going prior to the rate increase ya know.

Would someone please provide a map so I will know where the Canary Islands are? A friend just said he returned from Holiday and went to the Canary Islands and I had no idea where he had ventured from out of Manchester, England.

          Lawren,
Finally was able to stay connected with RCI. I can see quite a few Studios and 1BR starting on 8/17 but no 2BR and no Anfi Beach Club.
I put a post on ExOPS with the places I saw with Fairfield white Myrtle Beach.
          Hope this helps.

The Canary Island are very popular in Europe because it has a nice climate because it is much farther south.

            Here is a map.

The Canary Islands are a Spanish Posession off the coast of Morrocco.

Interesting! You actually see many more properties than I do with my CC red!
Can you pull Anfi on 8/18/07?

You can also find a lot of Canary Islands inventory at www.daelive.com , and with a much lower exchange fee, too!

                    Steve,

Believe me when I say that DAE has crossed my mind a couple of hundred times with this trade.

Are they "like season" "like unit" oriented?

                      Lawren,
I can see Anfi Beach Club for 8/18 with red Fairfield week but not with the white one.
I can see why you are interested in that, of all the Canary Island RCI properties it gets the best reviews everywhere.

I'd recommend DAE for a trade to Spain or Canaries for an August week. We live in the UK, so use the UK version of DAE, but I think the US site gives the same inventory. We have used DAE for a couple of years now and are very pleased with thier service.
Any week in to DAE gets any week out, and they don't just have timeshare units, they also have weeks of 'fully owned' vacation homes.
And, you don't have to deposit a week until you confirm a trade.

If you have specific dates in mind or specific requirements its best to call them and they will take all the detials and set up an ongoing search, they are very good at finding suitable matches, though it can take a while to get one.

You may find that its a bit early to be looking for August 2007 just yet, many people will not deposit for next summer until after Christmas, though I usually put in a request around October/November time.

As to where to go in Spain/Canaries, it all depends what you want - lively nightlife or a quiet beach or pool, home-from-home or some Spanish culture. A bit of research on the internet should give you a feel of what different resorts/areas are like.

We have been to Majorca many times, and to Lanzarote and Tenerife. And several times to the Costa del Sol. And have enjoyed them all. Its so easy to find quiet unspoiled beaches and wonderful seafood restaurants just about anywhere.

Something to bear in mind - check-in dates on the Spanish islands are not always at a weekend. This year we have done a trade to Tenerife and it checks in on a Tuesday.

if you want any more info about Spain or the Canaries, let me know. Can't help with Portugal though.

                        Helen
